You woke the next morning to the first snow of the year. The city was covered in a white blanket, and it looked magical. Something about snow always picked up your mood, it was as if snow made everything dream-like and none of your worries mattered anymore. After a quick shower, you headed out to the living area. Almost the whole team was already out there, save for Clint and Bruce.

Loki sat on the sofa by the window, looking out at the white city.

"It's odd", he said as you sat down next to him, "It's just frozen water yet it's so beautiful"

"It makes the city feel unreal"

He turned to look at you and smiled.

"Yes, it does"

You had begged Tony to let you go out in the snow, but of course, he'd said no. Steve started a fire and you all cuddled up in blankets, watching as the snow started falling again. Loki shared your blanket, much to Tony's dislike. He kept glaring over at you, but finally, let up. Being so close to Loki made you nervous, and you found it hard to focus on anything except how close his body was to your own.

Every so often, he would lean down to whisper about how he had just seen the biggest snowflake. Each time he did this, you felt your face grow hot and you wondered why he wasn't speaking to you in your mind.

After the fourth time, nudged him and laughed softly.

How can every snowflake be the biggest you've ever seen, Loki

He turned to you and smirked.

And why are you talking out loud?

He reached down and brushed his lips against your ear, "because I like feeling your heart jump every time I do"

He spoke in a low growl, and you felt yourself go light-headed before you shot your eyes up to him, it hadn't even dawned on you that he was able to feel your emotions. Looking around, you were relieved to see that no one had noticed this interaction.

You fake punched him, but quickly looked out the window, hoping he wouldn't notice how red your face had gotten.

Staring out, neither of you spoke again. After a minute, a shiver ran through your body as you became aware of Loki slowly moving his hand closer to you, hidden by the blanket.

Your breath hitched as you felt his hand slide onto your thigh.

Is this okay?

His hands were cool, and although his hand was only on your thigh, it felt as if his touch was radiating through your whole body.

Yes

Your heart rate rose, but it felt amplified, and you realized you were feeling Loki's nerves as well.

...

The snow was still thick, even after two days. You sat by the window eating toast and watching the city. Loki was still in his room, which was weird because he wasn't one to sleep in.

Tony and Steve entered the living area and made a beeline for you.

"Good morning", Steve said.

You mustered a weak smile, anxious about what they wanted to talk about.

"We don't really have any news from S.H.I.E.L.D, but they think the group has moved on to a new target"

The tension left your shoulders and you sighed a breath of relief.

"So I'm safe?"

Tony shifted a bit.

"I wouldn't say safe, but we can all relax a bit"
