As you faded in and out of consciousness, you heard familiar voices. The voices were laced with distress but you couldn't make out the words.
When you finally woke, you slowly opened your eyes to find you were in medical, back at the tower. Your whole body was sore, but you knew the pain should be much worse. Silently, you thanked bruce, knowing that he had given you pain meds.
The room was bright, and you squinted as your vision adjusted.
Tony, Thor, and Loki were seated around you. They were all asleep in their chairs but Loki had his arms on your bed, using them as a pillow.
Your stirring woke him, and he quickly sat up. Worry covered his face and he scooted closer to make sure you were okay.
I thought you were gone, I thought they had-
It's okay, Loki, I'm okay
It's not okay, Y/N, look at you, how is any of this okay?
You reached out the grab his hand, and he met your eyes. It pained you to see not only worry, but guilt all over his face.
What did they do to you? Did they-
No, they didn't, I promise
His shoulders relaxed a little, but he still looked like he was a second away from losing it.
Still holding your hand, he brought it to his face, closed his eyes, and kissed it. Your heart skipped a beat, which he must have felt because he opened his eyes and smiled.
I was so worried
I know, but I'm here now
He nodded, but there was still sadness in his eyes.
Tony stirred, causing Loki to drop your hand and scoot an inch back from you.
The second Tony opened his eyes, he was on his feet and next to you.
"Hey, kid, how are you feeling?"
"Like I'm lucky to be alive", you laughed softly.
"Listen, everything happened so fast... I couldn't even... I tried-"
"Tony, It's okay, it wasn't your fault"
He squeezed your hand before going to get the rest of the team.
The noise of everyone coming in woke Thor up and he rushed over to you as well. Everyone wanted to know if you were okay, but you could tell they were walking on eggshells.
Nat was trying her best to conceal her tears, while Thor just let it all out. Loki had gotten up to make room for everyone else and he stood awkwardly in the corner, never taking his eyes off you.
I want everyone to leave so we can be alone
Your heart jumped, had he meant for you to hear that? Your face flushed and you looked over at him, but he quickly looked away and you felt his nerves in your chest.
Maybe he really hadn't meant for you to hear that.
By the time the room had emptied, it was getting late. The team had wanted to talk and make sure you were okay. Some of them had even brought in their dinner to eat with you.
Their presence was comforting, but you were getting tired and were grateful to be alone.
Almost alone.
Loki stayed with you all night, despite your tries to get him to sleep in his own bed. Neither of you could sleep, but you couldn't bring yourself to talk about what had happened to you. He knew the pain you'd felt, he told you he had felt it in his chest.
