A/N- I decided to upload this chapter since chapter 9 was so short! I have also decided I will upload every Friday :)
The sound of your phone ringing jerked you from sleep. You were still on the couch, but the sun was now up and the city was bustling.
Reaching for the phone, you checked caller I.D. You couldn't help the smile growing on your face when you saw it was your mom and you answered it as quickly as possible.
"Hey, mom"
"Hey, honey, it's good to hear your voice"
A warm feeling swept over you, your mom always calmed you.
"How have you guys been doing?"
She told you about your brother and how he was doing well in school and had made a new friend. She said work was going well and that your brother was begging to get a kitten, to which she said yes.
Your bit your lip and held back tears, with everything going on, it made you miss your family even more. Closing your eyes, you listened to the sound of her voice.
"How have things been with you?" she asked after she had finished.
You hesitated, you couldn't tell your mom about the situation with Loki, you didn't want to worry her.
"I've been training almost every day, and I went on my first mission", you were proud to tell her that. Over the past few months, you had gotten so strong and you knew she would love to hear all about it.
She asked you about your mission and you told her every detail, leaving out the parts about Loki.
"Oh my god, honey, why didn't you tell me sooner about your concussion?"
"It was just a minor concussion, and I'm healing really quickly, to everyone's surprise"
She paused, and it felt like she was holding something back.
"You've always been resilient, not much gets to you as far as injuries"
Your mom was right, you had never gotten seriously hurt. There had been times where you had walked away with bruises when your injuries should have been much worse.
You talked to your mom for a little while longer and said hi to your brother, before hanging up. Emptiness started to creep into you and you let yourself feel sorry for yourself for a minute.
After your self-pity moment, you decided to take a hot bath to relax. As you sat there, you thought about everything that had happened so far and how crazy it all has been. Loki had stepped out of line last night and you felt the anger swell. As much as you were angry, you also felt sad that things had changed so much between you so quickly.
A knock at your door snapped you back to reality and you put on a robe to go answer it. A fresh wave of anger hit you when you saw Loki standing in front of you. He looked down at your robe and then quickly back up at your face.
"Y/N-"
You slammed the door in his face before he could finish. Turning around to lean with your back against the door, you heard him speak.
"Please Y/N, we need to talk"
You sighed before responding.
"Go away, Loki, I have nothing to say to you"
A minute passed, and you could almost feel his presence on the other side of the door.
"Okay, but please know that I am sorry"
His voice was dripping with sadness and it almost broke you to hear it. How could you feel like that for him? After everything he'd done, you still cared for him and you hated it.
