~Mary Jay~
"Everette! Everette, you're done!"
"MJ, cmon, get off her."
Their voices were drowned out by the rush I felt. This felt like deja-vu and I was brought back to the day I was told I would be attending St. Rogan.
My arms were getting tired but I used all my energy to get a few last hits in before I was pulled off by both Jean and Bone.
The girl under me sat up slowly as she spit out blood. At least she was alive.
I used my glove to wipe the blood above my eyebrow. I felt that along with the bruise along my rib. I knew I would feel even more in the morning.
I looked back at Jean who was looking at me with wide eyes. I smiled innocently at him, "She's good, huh?"
"You got some bruises too, don't get too cocky." He shook his head amusingly.
I raised my fist in the air victoriously as the crowd cheered. I felt free and the once tingly, burning feeling I felt in my chest earlier was gone and all I felt was adrenaline.
I hopped out of the ring and someone handed me a water. I said thanks to no one in particular as I didn't even know who did and downed half the bottle then and there.
I looked at the clock; It was 9:30.
Oh crap.
I looked around the room frantically for Jean. He was my ride here and curfew was in an hour. The school was 50 minutes away.
I spotted him talking to my opponent as she nodded along to his words. She was getting her cuts cleaned up and was receiving a what I'm guessing, pep talk.
I jogged over to him but was stopped in my tracks and Cherry and her friends surrounded me. Cherry wrapped her arms around me,
"You did great, babe! That was killer."
I wrapped my arms around her loosely, "Thanks, darling. I would love to stay but my curfew is in an hour and I really gotta get on the road."
She pulled back and pouted, "You have a curfew?"
"The life of a boarding school student."
She smirked and placed a kiss to my cheek and I turned to wave to her friends. They waved and nodded back as I turned back around to go get Jean.
When I reached him, Bone, and my opponent, I was still high on adrenaline.
"Hey."
"You were surgical, MJ." Bone put a hand to my shoulder.
"You already knew that." I nudged him with my elbow and we laughed lightly.
"You need something?" Jean looked at me.
I glanced to my opponent and winked at her before looking back at Jean, "Oh, yeah. My curfew is in an hour and we really gotta get back."
He nodded curtly then ducked to say a few more words to the girl. She looked at him and smiled weakly and he turned away, "I'm gonna grab my keys, I'll be back. You get your clothes."
I nodded in understanding and went to go get my things before stopping and turning back around.
I took a step towards the girl and held out my fist.
