Forty- Three

Stevie and Lindsey spent the next week going to doctors appointments- it was a his and hers type of deal... so romantic. And luckily, everything checked out fine, just in time for them to catch their plane home right before Labor Day weekend.

However, even though both Stevie and the baby were doing great, at twenty- something weeks pregnant it wasn't ideal, and then for someone who was just two weeks post heart attack, the cardiologist had a lot tips for safety... It was going to be quite the trip, but with Levy's help, they would get there just fine... at least they hoped that much.

Other than that, things had been pretty quiet, thankfully. Within that week, Kash and Elise both went back out West to get his parents home ready for their arrival and get back to their normal lives. Crosby came every single day to hang out with Stevie and Lindsey, while Lucy stayed tucked away in the safety of their apartment.

She figured that if she didn't have to see them, she didn't have to worry about it. She had crossed a line and she knew that, but admitting it was hard, so she wasn't going, definitely not in front of Stevie.

And no one, not even hotheaded Levy brought up what had happened at the hospital, especially the part surrounding their father. It wasn't their business, it really wasn't, so no matter what had really happened, none of them were going to embarrass their mother by talking about it.

"Are you feeling alright? Are you hot?" Stevie placed the back of her hand to Lindsey's forehead, something she had been doing all week, almost like a heart attack started with a fever.

Wrapping his arm around her waist, he pulled her into him a little more. "You're the hottest thing in this room." He wasn't necessarily joking, but he was saying that to make her laugh and it worked well.

"Yeah, right." She rolled her eyes playfully, patting his back as she felt him slowly rub the small of hers. "Are you ready to head home?" Her eyes melted right into his, a gentle smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth.

Nodding his head, "I'm ready to get you home." He whispered, pressing his lips to her forehead a moment later.

"Mhmm," She picked up her head, still giving him that mysterious grin before she leaned in a little further to capture his lips with hers. "Do you have all of your things packed?" Stevie slid one arm up, wrapping it around his neck as she pulled him in for another quick kiss.

"I do," he had his stuff together three days earlier.

He was ready to hit the road- get back to his own house, his own bed... with his wife, and all the other things that came with a normal life... whatever that really meant for them anymore.

"Hey?" Levy's voice caused them both to flinch as he lingered in the doorway.

It had been a long time since they'd had little ears, sneaking around and barging in, yet their middle son had seemed to be doing a lot of that in the week prior.

"Yes, dear?" Stevie turned around slowly, chuckling softly when her eyes met his.

He looked exhausted, but he still gave them both a soft smile. "No rush," he assured, shifting all his weight from one foot to the other. "But Crosby's waiting for us down in the lobby." Levy had been up and down four times that morning, since he was the only one that could actually carry anything without breaking doctors orders.

Creasing a brow, Stevie slipped out of Lindsey's arms to head through the room. "I didn't think we'd see him again, this morning." She wasn't complaining- in fact, she was thrilled to see him one more time before they departed, but the night before, he made it sound like he would be working that morning.

It had been years since Stevie had spent that much time with Crosby and even though they hadn't totally mended their rocky relationship, he really proved a lot to her while she was out there... he could be the most caring, understanding man in the world, and that was the Crosby that she was going to miss when she got back home.

"Alright, we're ready to go?" Levy did one last sweep of the room, while Stevie slung her purse over her shoulder and Lindsey slipped his jacket over his arms.

Nodding her head, Stevie pulled open the hotel room door, venturing out into empty the hallway first. "Thank you, Levy." She let off a sweet smile, wrapping her cardigan around herself a little tighter as she watched both of her boys step out of the room as well.

"Anything for my mama." He was joking, but at the same time, he really wasn't. She was his rock and the glue that kept him woven into that family...

She slipped her arm through his, trailing along side him as Lindsey followed a couple feet behind. "My hero." Stevie knew he was pulling her leg, so she went right along with him.

Levy chuckled softly, helping his mother into the elevator before Lindsey pushed the down arrow to send them to the lobby, where Crosby was waiting patiently.

He was sitting in one of the chairs by the front deck, holding the handle of suitcase with one hand while the other held onto his cup of coffee. "Good morning." He let off a grin once the elevator dinged and the three spilled out into the lobby.

"Good morning, buddy." Lindsey returned the smile, turning around for a split second to make sure Stevie had gotten out alright.

"Hi, honey." She wrapped him in a tight hug as soon as he stood up. "What are you doing here? I thought you were working this morning?" Her eyes had settled on the suitcase for a brief moment, but then she brought her attention back towards him.

Keeping one arm wrapped around her shoulders, he glanced from her back towards his father. "I talked to my boss and he said there's an opening at the office in Beverly Hills..." he lingered, a light chuckle following his words. "I was thinking about coming home for awhile. Levy said I could crash at his place until I found an apartment, and Lucy said she'd come to visit as much as possible." He added, suddenly getting a little nervous at how quiet they both were. "I just want to be there for you guys, and for the baby, and-" he was starting to trail, so instead of making it more uncomfortable for him, Stevie just cut him off.

"Honey, we would love for you to come back home."
