-Y/n's POV, Age 9-

I walked over and grabbed a stick laying on the ground, looking at it with a surprised smile on my face.

"...........Hey Kiddo, whatcha got there?" My father looked down at me while asking me with a smile on his face. I was holding a stick that I had found, swinging it around, pretending to take down Grimm left and right. "You have a stick?"

"No! I have a sword and I'm beating all of the Grimm!!" I said in a confident manner. It was a perfect warm and sunny evening. No clouds in the sky and life was grand. I was in the cobblestone streets of our village playing around, with my father watching over me. We were several yards from the house. He was a great dad. Loving, caring, hard working, and really strong. He used to be a huntsman from Beacon who decided to settle down and have a family after a long while. I kept swinging around the 'sword', defeating every Grimm in my imagination. I started doing cool spinny tricks and attacks. "Hiyahh!! Take that!! And that!! And some of this!!!"

"Oh, is that so?" He gave a hardy chuckle before crossing his arms with a grin on his face. "You wanna be a huntsman like your old man, huh?"

"Yes! I wanna be like you and I wanna save the world and beat Grimm and bad guys!" I stopped what I was doing and looked over at him with stars in my eyes.

"Well, you know that takes a lot of practice and a lot of hard work, right? You gotta grow up to be big and strong."

"I'll do whatever it takes to be like you. I wanna go to Signal and Beacon and become the coolest huntsman!!"

"Alright, alright. How about this? What if I start training you when you get a little bit older?" I gasped after hearing what he said and I got super excited. I started jumping up and down with glee. "I'll have to speak to your mom about it though."

"Honey!! Sweetie!! It's time for supper!" I looked over to the noise to see my mother outside of the door, calling to dad and I.

"Speak of the angel. We'll be right there!!" Dad yelled back to her happily. "Alright, son. Ready to go eat? I'm really starving."

"I'm super hungry."

"I bet. You've been outside most of the day playing around. I haven't even had the time to repair the shed." He stretched his back, yawning in the process. "Y'know what happens when you play hard."

"You eat a lot?"

"That's right! Now Come here!" I ran away playfully, trying not to get caught by him. He started chasing me around the place. I screamed and laughed as I ran around. "I'm gonna getcha.... I'm gonna getcha!"

I then quickly turned a corner and he jumped out and grabbed me. Holding me close, starting to laugh.

"Ahhh!!! You got me!!!" I started laughing as well, squirming as he starting tickling me before picking me up. He carried me over his shoulder all the way home as I lightly hit him on the back over and over, laughing on the way. Our family lived in an small unnamed village South of the city of Vale. It was a nice and small countryside town. A good word for it would be cozy. A lot of other people stayed in the village as well and here and there we'd use the nearest bullhead station to get to Vale for groceries and anything else we needed.

Once we got home, he set me down and we went inside. The smell of wonderful food went into my nose and I became excited to eat. I quickly too my shoes off and went over to the dining room table and sat in a chair. My mother was still in the kitchen preparing plates for dinner. She was originally in the dust business, but since the Schnee Dust Company bought all that out, she started doing a clothing business. She was such a caring mother. The best mother a boy like me could ever have. She loved dad with all her heart and the same from him to her. Dad walked over to her and hugged her, giving her a kiss afterwards, talk about gross. Soon enough, mom brought the plates of food over and set the table before she and dad sat down. We then all started eating.
