The suffocating cover of the desert sands chilled Taehyungs skin and he remained frozen beneath it for what felt like forever.
Frozen.
Still.
Silent.
Suddenly the sands begin to shift and dissipate. Taehyung soon finds himself rising from the granulated tomb, coughing and gasping for air as the pile falls away.
His eyes are shut tight as he crawled out of and away from the short mound of sand, specks falling from his shirt and hair.
As he managed his escape, he immediately realizes that something was different about his surroundings. With his eyes still closed, his other senses were heightened and more attuned to the change in atmosphere.
There was no wind, no thunder, and the air didn't carry that subtle scent of burned shrubbery and dirt.
On the contrary, everything was almost the exact opposite of where he'd just been. Even the ground that he expected to be covered in loose sands felt cold and hard like rough tile or concrete.
Taehyung opens his eyes and gasps at the discovery of this new place.
A single light source shined from above like a spotlight, casting pitch-black shadows to surround where he stood.
Swirls of dust fogged the air and danced over the rays of light coming from what he assumed to be the ceiling and Taehyung exhales in exasperation as he looked around.
"..great..." he groaned as he slowly rose to his feet, sand continuing to fall from his body and bounce over the smooth ground.
He takes a few cautious steps forward, being careful to stay beneath the light as he moved. His timid gate turns into a brisk walk, then into a trot. He runs for several seconds, hoping that he would reach a wall or a possible exit to what he assumed to be a large room.
But he soon discovers that as he ventured forward, with the light above him following him, that wherever he was had no beginning or end within his reach.
Slightly out of breath, he stops running and falls to his knees.
He lifts his bandaged hand to shield his eyes from the brightness as he tried to find the source of the light, but he sees nothing past the blinding glow.
"Hello!!!" he screams out.
"SOMEBODY!!!!....anybody..."
Silence.
Taehyung's quickened breath weakens and his eyes shine with emotion as he slowly drops his hand.
"No.." he sighs heavily.
"No.....I can't be stuck here...please God..." he murmurs aloud, shaking his head as he pushed himself up from the ground.
"Please!!! Is anyone here?? Please!!!" he cries out again. A slight echo fades from somewhere deep in the darkness and Taehyung turns sharply to face the faint sound.
His eyes search the shadows desperately, fear and hope causing his heart to race.
"Please..." he whispers to the dark.
But again, after a long beat, there is only silence.
At this point, Taehyung wasn't sure of much but a few things. He didn't know if Jimin was alive or not. Or if Halmi was either for that matter. He wasn't even sure he could consider himself to be alive. Because this place, unlike the desert, felt like death.
This place felt like hell...
...and Taehyung was sure that this would be where he would be forever.
