Divergence

Taehyung was aware of his movements but had little control over them as he stumbled over the freezing concrete. His bare feet stung against the sidewalk and his palms burned from where he..well...
From where the demon used them to force the metal door open, it only being possible due to the binding spell nearing its expiration.

Although it was able to escape, it came as a huge cost to Taehyungs energy.

But...they were free.

After a few more forced steps, Taehyung musters up enough strength to plant his feet. His movements halt and his body jerked in resistance.

"What are you doing?" The demon's voice rumbled deep and menacing in Taehyung's chest, forcing black veins to bulge in time with his words.

Taehyung shakes his head, panting vigorously before speaking.

"No...we have to stop...we have to go back..." he manages to say before he's overtaken again.

"NO! I have to get to the portal..or else.." the demon's black eyes shone through on Taehyung's face as it spoke through him. It groans out with effort as it tried to force Taehyung to take another step.

His foot only moves up an inch and the demon sighs.

"I admire the strength of your will. But you cant keep this up...We have to get to the portal.." it growls, teeth bared and muscles bulging as it pulled Taehyungs foot up from the ground to take one full step forward.

"or else what?.... You'll die?.." Taehyung finds his voice as the demon finally relents, allowing him to fall forward. Taehyung breaks the fall just in time with his hands, wincing at the rawness of his burning palms against the concrete.

It seemed as if both of them held a seat in control over Taehyung's body, one side of his face normal and sullen with eyes pooling with strain and exhaustion. The other side of his face morphed to match the exaggerated features of his doppelganger, black eyes glinting with determination and mirth.  That half of Taehyung's face curls up into a small grin and a hollow chuckle shakes his core.

"I cannot die, Taehyung...." it says under a heaving breathe as it lifted a hand to rest on Taehyung's knee, forcing him upright.  The side of Taehyung that had control blinked rapidly with confusion at the demon's casual words.

"but..." he begins, only to be interrupted by the demon's growl of strain as it fought for dominance over Taehyungs body.

"One ....can not kill..." it huffs out as Taehyungs knees flexed, lifting them from the cold concrete.

"...what isn't alive...Now stop fighting me. Or I'll.."

As Taehyungs body straightens up, his head falls back to gaze up at the light speckled sky, relishing in the sight of the stars after being subjected to only white walls and ceilings for what felt like an eternity. Both eyes closed as Taehyung filled his lungs with unfiltered air, cold and biting at his senses.

"Kill me? You can't... remember?... You need me." Taehyung says after a few shared breathes. Tension in his neck forces him to drop his head, pointing their gaze ahead at the vacant streets stretching out in the direction of the main city. His head shakes and he blinks to allow black eyes to overcome both sockets. The same sinister grin stretches over Taehyungs entire face. 

"I believe you have it confused, Taehyung......" it chuckles, gazing back up at the sky. From where Taehyung sat dormant deep within himself, he felt a strange sensation rippling over the blades of his shoulders, a prickling feeling that makes a shiver roll down his spine. Another feeling of dread fills him that inspired a sense that something horrible was on its way.
