The Fallen

Jimin's cold eyes pinned them, still and shining like squids ink. He blinks passively but there was no other movement. No other signs of life. Not even a subtle rise or fall of his chest to indicate he was breathing.

Jungkooks arms were spread wide, caging Mae behind him with his back pressed against her, pinning her protectively.  She bumps back against the door,  trembling with fear and peaking over his shoulder.

Seconds stretched on and Jimin continued to stare, chilling the two to the bone.

"H.....Hyung..." he whispers. Jimin's expression remains dead along with his gaze in their direction. Calm and waiting.

Taehyung's matching eyes glimmered with amusement as they skimmed between the three, starting at Jimin then to Jungkook, then to Mae cowering behind him. He smirks.

"You know this is all kind of funny, isn't it?"

Mae and Jungkook look towards him as he lifted his foot to step over Halmi, whose face laid still against the ground, her blackened eyes wide and tearful. One drop rolls over her nose and hits the concrete as Taehyungs other foot goes over her head. The two breathed frantically, sliding down the side of the car as he came closer.

A scraping sound brings attention to the single hooked claw extending from the tip of the demon's wings, dragging along the parking lot. Tiny sparks followed that set ablaze in their wake, drawing a thin trail of tiny blue flames that danced against the breeze.

The young pair watched with peril as the flames spread on their own volition, slowly stemming out to form a large boundary around the slice of the parking lot they inhabited. In seconds, the diner, the streets, and buildings faded out of focus as the flames grew taller. Trapping them in a circle of hell on Earth with what could have easily been the devil himself.

"Jungkook..."

The demon's booming tone makes them flinch, Mae, letting out a tiny yelp in fear.  The aforementioned stills his trembling limbs, stiffening at the sound of his name enunciated by such a devilish voice.

"It's funny, right? Meeting you here...in this very spot...I can't be the only one experiencing Deja vu ." Taehyung lifts a brow as he stalked forward.

The flames behind him grew even taller and their heat more harrowing as it effectively encased the four of them. Giving neither Mae nor Jungkook room to escape and nowhere to run.

Jungkook clenches his jaw and every muscle in his body tightens even, almost painfully, once the heat of the demon's proximity hits him. Taehyung stops at the nose of the car, glancing down at the headlight then back up through his brow. His tongue rolls in his mouth thoughtfully.

"I think we were right here....literally this very spot....surely you remember." he looks up, seeing Jungkook with a weighted stare that steals his breath.

Suddenly he recalls the moment weeks ago. The day he came to work to find Mae angrily scrubbing the bar countertop. The hazy flashback jumps from that scene to the moment he was toe to toe with Taehyung.

The same taunting glare and smirk meets him when he blinks away the daylight of the flashback, returning to the darkness of the fire-lit present.

"You have no idea...what your eyes were asking for me to do to you that day. From the night of that party, they begged the same questions...The same challenge...."

Just then, Taehyung lifts his hand to lay it against the car, dragging a slick trail of the black substance over the paint. He inches closer with a subtle growl rolling beneath his chest as he spoke.

"What were your exact words?"

Jungkook swallows heavily at the question. His eyes flit down towards the point of contact between Taehyungs stained fingers and the inky trail they left over the side of the car's hood.
