Jimin feels his heart stutter the moment he locks eyes with the shadow, the looming dark figure standing off-center behind him, staring at him through the scratchy metal of the elevator door. A chill rolls over him, competing with the iced breezes bite against his skin. The seconds seemed to stretch the longer he's frozen, trapped in the gaze of the abomination behind him.Eventually his adrenaline kicks in and he turns sharply on his heels just as the doors separate and gasps when he comes face to face with someone he least expected.
"Tae?"
Junseo is speeding on the expressway, switching lanes, and honking with frustration at the law-abiding drivers that were in his way."For fucks sake! Get over!!!" he leans his head out the window and yells at the other drivers. Tires screech and brake lights beam as he swerved over to pass someone in the same lane.
"Fucking slow ass driving motherfu..." he trails off as he honked.
Jia is in the passenger seat, her hands trembling as she dialed up a number on her phone, praying to get an answer.
"Is she answering the phone?" Junseo glances over briefly as he pulled up to a light, growling under his breath impatiently. Jia holds the phone to her ear, her eyes dancing over the dashboard frantically and hopefully until disappointment takes a hold of her expression.
"No! It's going straight to voicemail...I didn't even know she'd left the room. I was asleep.." she shakes her head, pulling the phone from her ear to try Halmi's cell again.
She hated this feeling. Feeling helpless. It was something over the years she'd regretfully grown accustomed to. But this was different. Not only was her brother possessed by a demon and missing, so was her grandmother. The only other person she could look to and trust to get through this situation.
Tears filled her eyes and her stomach turned at the thought of the worst, praying to God or whoever would listen that they were safe.
Or at least alive.
"Fuck...Well is there is anywhere you think Taehyung would go? Somewhere the demon might seek out for any reason?..." Junseo's eyes dart from the road ahead to Jia's conflicted profile. She stares off into space as her grandmother's voice on her answering machine spoke to her, shaking her head and dropping the phone in her lap out of frustration.
"That could be anywhere...Seoul is huge.." she exhaled. Jia leans forward to press her forehead to the dashboard with her hands rubbing at her temples, the combination of lights, sounds, and speed around her suddenly becoming overwhelming. Her stomach rolled and turned with every bump and curve and the all too familiar feeling of nausea was traveling up her throat.
"...not now..not now..." she sighed, breathing through the wave as it threatened to crash over. Junseo sucked his teeth at how traffic came to a halt several cars back from the intersection and his shoulders sagged as his foot reluctantly eased on the brakes.
