chapter three;
fatebound—
A FEW days had passed.
Kaloka!
I cautiously asked Stepmother about the Second Prince, but she dismissed me, saying that he was suddenly busy with some urgent matters and was currently defending the western part of the Seventh Kingdom.
Jusko.
I just kept my mouth shut, but deep inside me, I was actually relieved that I hadn't met the Second Prince yet. At least I got another confirmation. I was really in the Seventh Kingdom and in the prince's palace, or if not his palace, maybe one of his properties.
And it looked like Portia really had some beef with him because of how stepmother treated me.
Tss!
"Ah, eh, can I have some cake or anything sweet instead of tea for dessert?" I murmured to stepmother after the other maid placed my breakfast in the table.
"Okay, it's okay if it's not allowed." I pouted. I just really wanted something sweet for my mind to function properly. The past few days had been tough for me to accept that this was really my reality.
"Thank you for the food," I just mentioned while looking at the delicious meat that was in front of me.
Although I was still trying to think of ways on how to go back in my old world, I was starting to feel hopeless.
I still felt so in denial from time to time, but I started to move and think of plans on how to survive.
I didn't want to die. I really wanted to survive, and that was what I would do. Even though I was in Portia's body. I just wished that if I managed to live and escape her tragic fate, she'd finally go back in here.
Maybe she used some celestia in order to prevent what would unfold, and because we had some similar experiences in life, I was the one tasked to do this.
I just munched the food angrily.
She immediately gave me a cup of juice and I grabbed it without hesitation. Jusko! Muntik na akong mamatay dahil sa pagkain! Ano ba 'to sobrang ominous!
I avoided stepmother's gaze again although I saw her shook her head in frustration.
"Thank you for the meal, it was delicious! Don't forget to have yours, too!" masayang sabi ko sa kanila pero hindi nila ako pinansin. They all left without any words.
