chapter eighteen;
celeste—
"HEY, please remember all that we talked about and discussed the last few days, okay?" Kallisto and I were now in the carriage going to the Palace where a banquet was happening.
We started our journey to the City of Benedictus—the capital of the Seventh Kingdom—two days ago. And it was really quite far from Kallisto's place. Do'n pa lang alam mo na kaagad na gustong ibaon ng ibang tao si Kallisto sa limot.
It made me angry, but I didn't dare burden Kallisto with that emotion. I didn't want to rub salt to the wound. He was probably more upset than me, but he was putting up with it, so who was I to burst?
We could use magic and Stepmother's portal to go to Benedictus immediately, but it wasn't advised because of Kallisto's status. Eyes would only scrutinize him once they found out that someone was using magic for his sake, so we were forced to travel by regular means.
It was fun on my end, though; I saw how beautiful the Seventh Kingdom was. We even passed by a flower field, and Kallisto halted the journey for me to go and explore the sunflower field because he saw how amused I was, and I felt really thankful for his thoughtfulness.
However, he was strict when he was orienting me about what banquet we would attend together and how I should behave in the Palace. I was pretty familiar with the etiquettes as I already saw it in Fatebound. But there were still some that I didn't know because that was more of the Seventh's custom traditions.
"I know, I know, you'd been telling me that since who-knows-when," natatawang sagot ko na lang kay Kallisto na seryosong nakatingin sa akin na para bang gagawa ako ng malaking eksena sa banquet.
Hindi naman siya nagkakamali—este nagkakamali siya ro'n!
Ako pa ba? Most behave kaya ako no'ng nag-aaral pa ako!
Mukhang hindi pa siya kumbinsido sa sinabi ko kaya naman kaagad akong nag-inumerate ng mga sinabi niya sa akin.
"One, I need to act like a Celeste. That's easy! I'm a Celeste already, so there's no need to act!" proud na proud na sabi ko sa kanya, pero aba! Inikutan lang ako ng mga mata! "Hoy, bakit ka umiirap dyan ha! I'm a Celeste not just in name but by act, too!" I continued with chin up.
"No," he contradicted firmly.
"Aba't—!" I couldn't continue what I was about to say when he suddenly said.
"You don't act like one."
"Paano pala ako um-acting, ah?"
"Evienne just acts like Evienne," he said like he was reciting some worldwide fact.
I pouted at him as I couldn't dispute that. He was right, though. I just act like myself, so he and the people around him wouldn't be reminded of Portia anymore, and they would see me more as Eve.
"Okay... so I will act like a Celeste," I said to him with confidence as I flicked an eyebrow at him and crossed my arms. He smirked a little and shook his head lightly, but his expression looked like he approved of it.
It wasn't really that hard to act like a typical Celeste. You just need to be mean and confident.
Halos lahat kasi ng Celeste sobrang taas ng tingin sa sarili. Not that I could really blame them, they were taught that way, and it was also appropriate in some ways because they were really high of the highest.
They were the only people who could stand equal with the Kings in Cielo, even if they weren't the Queens. In some way, my status was really higher than Kallisto, even though he was a Prince.
