chapter ten;
my name—
I COULDN'T process what just happened, and I stared back at Kallisto, who was looking at the water-formed wings, shifted his eyes on me. I saw how a slight smirk appeared on his blood-drenched face. I felt goosebumps as his eyes flickered powerfully.
I removed my arms around him, and placed it lightly on his shoulder.
"Are you... okay?" I asked, full of concern.
"What are you doing in here?" he answered my question with another question. Then he held my waist tighter as he stood up while holding me.
I thought he'd bring me down, but he didn't. He also grabbed the sword that was plunged into the soil near him. His abyss that was out of control earlier suddenly felt sturdier and obedient. It was like a person that would risk their life for its owner.
The violet light surrounded the sword, and Kallisto looked at the fox that was trying so hard to break the wings that were acting as a shield but at the same time an offensive weapon that was holding its neck.
I... am I the one controlling that power?
I felt myself tremble while looking at the intense battle.
"Graaaaugh!" the loud piercing and ear shuttering growl of the fox made the whole mountain shook. I held Kallisto's shoulder tighter, thinking that we'd be swept away by that noise and pressure.
But my jaw almost dropped when we weren't affected at all, especially when a water wall seemed to create a circle to protect us like the wings. Kallisto's abyss also flowed as it wrapped a shield around us, too.
"I told you that it's dangerous here. Why are you so stubborn?" Kallisto's deep voice crept inside my ears, and it felt so eerie.
"I didn't mean to... I just... the Celestia. The celestia was unbearable. And it felt like I'd die if I didn't follow it. It was ranging and out of control." I shivered, thinking about how the celestia felt like a giant wave that was ready to swallow the whole of me earlier.
It was nerve-wracking and scary.
"And I reacted that way to save... you and myself..." I added my truth.
He only stared at me coldly, but somehow, I knew he understood what I was saying because he also felt how his abyss almost devoured all of him.
"We'll talk later, but now... let me deal with that monster."
I trembled because he was more of a monster than the fox in front of us, with how his eyes were glinting luminously in violet and how his abyss surrounded him like it was mana oozing in the same shade as his orbs.
"Can you fight with your Celestia? If not, I suggest you to hide."
"I'll fight," I stated with determination.
I wasn't sure how strong my celestia was. Or how I could use it effectively. But I wanted to try this time. I wanted to show him that I wasn't someone who'd hinder him in fights and was someone who could be of immense help.
