chapter twenty;
history

WE stayed at the room for a while. I thought it would be boring, but it was better than being in that banquet. Talking to Kallisto was comforting at the same time never dull. It felt like even if hours passed by slow or fast, you wouldn't really feel it because it was engaging and mind-clearing.

I stared down at the vast and pretty garden. There were a lot of different flowers, and if it was morning, I was sure that there would be butterflies fluttering around.

"Formalities, forming connections, and dances," kibit-balikat na sagot ni Kallisto.

"So we missed the dance?"

"It's not like you are good at it. It was actually a blessing to miss it." I glared at him immediately with his sharp retort. Tsk! Fast learner kaya ako! I was now confident in my dancing unlike the first time that we danced!

I crossed my arms at him. "I was planning on dancing with your brother and your father, too!" alma ko sa kanya.

I get that somehow they were protecting him by not showing the other nobles that they really care about him and were careful of the others' eyes but wasn't it still too much? I thought it was fine at first as long as there were no misunderstandings on their part. But hearing how horrid and mortifying the way those air pollutant mouths talked earlier just made my blood boil.

"It was better not to dance with them."

"Why?"

"I'm afraid of the embarrassment that you would cause."

"Hoy! Magaling na ako sumayaw 'no!" I smacked his arms playfully.

"As if that's the only thing that could result in embarrassment." Loko 'to!

"And what are you gonna talk about them anyway?" he asked curiously. I smiled at him wickedly but revealed my thoughts.

"Magpapabalot sana ako, hehe!"

His handsome face turned to a grimace immediately, and I laughed at him! "Their desserts are delicious! I needed to bring them home to make sure that Yule, Willow, Stepmother, Lincoln, and the owls would taste it!"

"You and your weird antics," he said while shaking his head, and I only chuckled at him.

After a while, someone knocked at the door, and we both turned our heads to look at it. He walked first inside the room again, and I followed him. The one who was knocking entered, and his glorious smile was the first thing that I noticed. Damn, I almost went blind!

Atlas Dietrich St. Auclain didn't seem to be bothered by how Kallisto evaded him. Instead, he was so used to it. He laughed and pulled his brother forcefully to hug him, and Kallisto's sounding sigh rang in the room.
