*** Ahri POV ***
"Why did you just disappear?" I ask Akali as she sits down across from Eve.
She sighs as she shuts her eyes, "I really expected none of you would notice my bathroom break taking a little too long," a sly smile spreading across her face.
Eve then remarks, "And the same way you swapped out the two bodyguards?"
"Shit."
Chris then remarks, "Really didn't do that much effort in hiding it either, I don't know what you expected."
"Tch lay off of me," she then rests her eyes on me, "I did what you two won't do."
I can Eve almost wanting to jump to her feet but before I react she only leans forward, "Oh?"
Kai'Sa jumps in, "Wait wait wait, we don't have to start a fight now right?" she then turns to Eve, "Akali and I spent some time thinking about the situation and thought we should at least help," Kai'Sa then looks at me, "I know we have no place but-"
I shake my head stopping her, "No. I really appreciate all of you trying to help me with something as silly-"
Chris then adds, "Is it really that silly?"
Eve then bites at him, still angry, "Shut it, Chris. What did you do Akali?" she paced out her words, making sure that the two of them know that she is running on fumes.
Akali opens one of her eyes, "We know that you two decided to leave it at the current situation. I only went to tell him the very thing you couldn't," she lifts her hand to stop Eve, "I don't mean to insult or anything. He knows both of you, and he is probably terrified of you and because of that he won't dare try to get near Ahri knowing that he might just end up hurting her again."
I then help her understand, "With everything going on... it is just a massive misunderstanding from both sides. We need to make it clear to him - it would only be fair... right?"
I am trying to convince myself but I know to them... I don't even sound sure of myself. I feel Eve squeezing my hand as she lets out a heavy sigh.
"Because of Ahri's first blunder-"
"Hey!"
She continues despite my reaction, "It left a very delicate state. Where he is under the impression you want nothing to do with him and I failed to get that detail across to him."
I then pout as I lower my head, "I am not that bad..."
Kai'Sa then sits next to me, "It is cute!"
"Thanks... the 'cute' popstar can't handle her own problems without making it worse for herself and everyone around her."
"Relationship trauma is a thing, don't forget that," Chris then mentions, "Because of that you might just expect him to up and abandon you when it gets tough again."
Eve then almost says something but she stops herself just in time before she blurts it out. We all exchange one awkward glance with Eve as she rolls her eyes at all of us. We all knew what she was going to say - wow, you actually said something helpful.
Eve and Christofer hardly get along. All though he is our manager it is more like that so that he can keep us in line.
But we are all friends, just looking out for each other.
The awkwardness passes as it is filled with our combined giggling. Kai'Sa lifts herself as she yawns.
"It is about time to head back for the night," she gestures towards the exit as her eyes meet Akali's.
She smirks, "Home it is then. Are you three staying? Need to know if we can take the car and head home-"
Eve scoffs, "As if I'd let you drive anything. We are all leaving, that and I don't trust you with Taxis either."
I nod knowing about our last incident in getting lost and almost walking into a drug ring. The world is a whole lot different when your popstar group has a ninja, a half-demon, a nine tail and a walking weapon.
Yet even then I suck at dealing with relationship drama. If I can even call it that.
Eve then pulls me aside as the two of them leave before us, "You okay? I guess we are all over the place and you are right in the middle."
I shake my head, "Don't worry about me much. I am just trying to get my bearings and because of my blunder we are in this situation in the first place."
She gives me a hug - that I definitely needed.
"Leave it to you to make something overly complicated," she then asks, "Should we go ask him?"
I shake my head, "No... I will ask him if we can talk at a later time," even if I have to force myself to.
The two of us leave a little after Kai'Sa and Akali. I leave first, my ear twitches towards his direction but I don't stop. My strength and courage all together drain in an instant. I turn my head but I only see Evelynn. I slow my pace and she follows my pace.
Then finally...
"Wait..."
*** Normal POV ***
A good two hours into my shift, they haven't stopped from showing any signs of going home - well that only goes for the people dancing on the lower floor. The five of them inside has been stuck in an endless conversation.
All though I wish I could step in when I wanted I wouldn't do it. It takes one person to make something awkward and painfully so. Now with something else on my mind - a glimmer of hope that bolsters my spirits.
I know that it is not much to go on, nothing really confirming that whatever comes out from it will end in favour of each of us.
Or it will just be like then and neither of us will come to a conclusion, furthering the wedge between us.
As these thoughts leave my mind, a figure walks past me. Kai'Sa. She offers me a smile before walking down the stairs, and shortly after her Akali comes rushing out. The next two makes my heart all together leap and sink.
First Ahri and then Evelynn. They walk past me as if waiting for me to make the move on them.
I raise my voice, "Wait-" I call out to them but I wasn't the only one calling it out.
Both of them fully stop in place both of their heads completely towards me but Ahri's is hidden behind Evelynn's. Though nobody is speaking anymore. Eve then finally tilts her head asking, "What?"
I shake my head as I lift myself off from the wall and peek past Evelynn, "Ahri," Evelynn steps out of our way, "Can we talk... please?"
"I..." she shakes her head at first and instead of a frown she offers me a smile, "Not now. Right now I think we might end up fighting instead of doing any talking. Maybe at a later time?"
"I'd like that," my heart simmers as I take a step back, "Until then, okay?"
She nods twice, first a small one then back up with a second as if she had to second-guess herself, "I will let you know when."
Evelynn then finally breaks from her silence, "If she doesn't then I'll let you know."
I nod as I step back to my post, "Alright, get home safe."
"G'night," the two of them greet me almost simultaneously.
It was almost nostalgic like I was meeting her again for the first time. Though last time Alex took the lead and kept Evelynn distracted long enough for me to get close enough to be able to talk with Ahri.
Just like then. This time, given the chance... I won't let history repeat itself. Given the chance, I will be better for both of us.
"Yo," Ahri's boyfriend appears around from the VIP area, for that moment I forgot about him and my newfound hopes were drowned with a throbbing hatred.
I point towards the exit, "She left already. I suggest you do the same-"
"Relax hotshot. I just want to talk-"
