"Erm Amanda" Fiona said quietly. The said girl looked up from her book and saw her friend looking frightened "Fiona? What's the matter? Is everything ok?" She asked worryingly.

"Well erm sort of" she said quietly as she sat down across from Amanda. She took a deep breath "Amanda I'm...I'm pregnant" she said. Amanda's eyes widened and a grin broke out "that's amazing Fiona! Have you told Thorin yet?" She asked. Fiona shook her head "I'm scared to tell him and I'm scared that we won't have time for the baby because I have my duties as queen, Thorin has his kingly duties and and and I don't want a nanny to raise it! I just don't know what to do!" Fiona cried into her hands. Amanda immedielty wrapped her arms around her and stroked her hair "shhh sh sh sh it'll be ok, there's no need to be scared about it. Just tell Thorin and see what happens" she whispered. Fiona nodded "ok"

She stood and hugged Amanda tightly before leaving to find Thorin. She found him in the throne room speaking with Dain. Feeling the need not to disturb she began to turn away.

"Fiona! My queen, everything alright?" Thorin asked. Fiona weakly smiled "um...can we speak. Alone?" She asked. Thorin looked at her in concern and asked Dain for some privacy. Dain bowed and left the throne room, giving Fiona a smile. Thorin approached his wife and embraced her "what is it my love? Are you well?" He asked. Fiona laughed lightly and caressed his cheek "yes i feel wonderful, because well. Thorin." She said looking into his loving eyes. She grasped his hands and laid them over her stomach. The king was confused for a brief moment until it dawned on him "are you?" He began.

Fiona nodded with tears in her eyes. Thorins shocked face turned into a great big smile as he swept her off her feet "we're having a baby! I'm going to be a father!" He cheered spinning her around. Fiona giggled as he set her down and kissed her deeply. He pulled away and grinned "I love you so so much, and I love our unborn child. Oh my love I'm so excited" he rambled. Fiona laughed "I gathered that" she said. She caressed his cheek and laid her head on his chest as he swayed with her in his arms. Fiona decided not to say About her worries. She just wanted to enjoy this moment.

News spread of Fionas pregnancy and the people were over joyed that the queen would be having an heir. But Amanda was concerned for her friend. She knew that Fiona did not want her child to live in royalty. She wanted her child to have a normal life of peace. So one day, she decided to speak with a Thorin privately.

"Thorin? Can I speak with you?" Amanda asked the king. He looked up from his desk and beckoned her in "what is it?" He asked. Amanda sat down and noticed his happiness radiating off him "you seem happy" she smiled. Thorin smiled slightly "yes. Fiona is with child, the Kingdom and my people are safe. What more could I be happy about?" he asked her with a chuckle. Amanda smiled "yes I can see that. Which brings me here. Did she tell you her worries?" She asked

"Worries? What worries?" Thorin asked. Amanda folded her hands together "she's just worried the baby will grow up without you two around so much, you guys being king and queen and all" she said. Thorin glanced at his paper work. He remembered how his own father wasn't around much for his childhood, even though he was prince and next in line for the throne "I never realised. I had wondered why she was so quiet about it" he said. Amanda sighed "it's not my place to say this but I think you should do what's best for both of them. Think about it" she said before standing up and leaving quietly. Thorin watched her leave and sighed. He stood and made his way to the balcony behind him and over looked the fields where he once fought for the life of his kin, his friends and his wife and then his eyes lingered to the bustling rebuilt town of Dale. He remembered how he basically raised his brother and sister and would sneak them to the town for an hour or so, how he would try to speak to his father or grandfather as a child but they were often to busy to even look at him. He loved them dearly but he couldn't help but feel hurt. He didn't want that for his child. He wanted he or she to have a proper childhood with parents that would give them all their time.

Suddenly, he got an idea, and a smile formed on his face

(Five months later)

It was the summer of July, and it was Fiona's birthday. She had been greeted with gifts and happy birthdays from everyone she held dear around her. But what she really wanted was to be with her husband. But he was nowhere to be found. Infact, she hasn't seen him much since the day she announced her pregnancy to him which worried her. She stroked her bump as she walked outside the gates of Erebor, basking in the sun on her face.

"You are glowing my love. So Exquisite"

Fiona smiled and turned to find her husband behind her, no crown, no royal garments. He was dressed in a blue tunic, black pants and had his dark blue jacket with the fur that Fiona loved so much from the quest. He was holding out a rose of pure white. She gingerly took the flower and smelt it. His blue eyes glimmered with the sun light making them look like rare saphires. He approached her and embraced her gently "happy birthday my love" he whispered giving her a kiss

"You remembered" she smiled. Thorin rose an eyebrow "of course I did, why would I not?" He asked. Fiona shyly looked away "well I just haven't seen you much in so long, I thought you'd forget" she admitted. Thorin smiled and knelt down to kiss her swollen stomach "isn't it nice how much your mother doubts my memory?" He asked sarcastically making Fiona giggle. He stood and tugged her along with him "you'll see why you haven't seen me much, come" he said leading her away.

For a while they just walked through the woods, talking and enjoying the scenery. Thorin suddenly swooped her off her feet making her squeak "i don't want you growing tired my love" Thorin chuckled. Fiona just shook her head and smiled. She buried her face in his neck as he carried her further along.

When he finally stopped walking he looked at Fiona "we're here" he whispered. Fiona lifted her head and gasped lightly.

She could see a great big lake before and she could see a waterfall in the distance. Different flowers grew in all places and what really caught her attention was the beautiful stone house that stood within the trees.

Thorin put her down and let her take everything in "Thorin? Wha, what is this?" She asked softly. Thorin smiled and embraced her "it is our new home" he informed her.

"Our new home? But what about the kingdom?" She asked in shock. Thorin chuckled "you need not worry about Erebor. Fili will be a fine king and look after the people" he said. Her eyes widened

"You mean...you gave up your throne for me?" She asked. Thorin nodded and laid a hand on her growing bump "and for this little one inside you. With some help from a few of your favorite people, we built this home for you both. I want him or her to have a real childhood with us. I want us to live in peace together" he whispered. Fiona was silent for a moment, and it worried Thorin as he believed she wasn't happy. He was caught by surprise when she hugged him around the neck and began peppering his face with kisses "you.sweet.sweet.man.i.cant.believe.you" she said between kisses. Thorin grinned against the kiss and spun her "so you like it then?" He asked

"Like it? I love it! And I love you my king in shining armour" she cried. Thorin kissed away her tears and bent down and kissed her stomach "you hear that little one? Mummies very happy. I love you both so much. I can't wait to see you" he whispered. He felt the baby kick against his hand and smiled. He stood up and swept her off her feet "to our new home my love" he said, carrying her over the threshold. Fiona kissed him again and hugged him.
