When Fiona and Amanda calmed down they kept their distance from Thorin who had became blinded by the sickness once again. He had even ordered that a stone wall be built to defend the mountain. Fiona found it ridiculous and had wandered off to the dark halls. She sighed and ran a hand over her hair in frustration "dam it, this is all getting out of hand" she mumbled to herself. A sudden shine caught her attention. She moved to where she saw it and gasped lightly. Bilbo sat against the wall with the Arkenstone in his hands.

"You had it?" She asked making him jump. He quickly hid it. His pocket and stood, dusting himself off "well erm yes but erm" he stuttered. He finally sighed "Fiona I know it sounds silly but there is something wrong with this mountain. This stone. Please don't tell him" he begged. Fiona shook her head and grasped his shoulders "I won't Bilbo I promise. But I just don't want you to get hurt" she said quietly, hoping Thorin wasn't nearby.

"I know I'm taking a risk but I have to help him. I'm going to take it to Bard and hope a trade can be made of some sorts. He will get his gold and Thorin will get the Arkenstone and there will be no war over it. Who knows, he, he might get well" he trailed off. Fiona looked at her small friend in sympathy then she sighed "I'll go with you Bilbo. Just encase" she said. Bilbo looked at her in shock but he smiled "thank you Fiona. I'm glad I won't do this alone" he whispered. Fiona hugged him tight "I won't let him hurt you. I'll fight him if I have to" she mumbled. Little did she know, Amanda had over heard everything. She admired how she was standing up for her self but she couldn't let her be killed by her friends love. She began to hatch a small plan as Fiona and Bilbo snuck off.

That night Bilbo and Fiona tiptoed to the top of the stone wall and looked down. Bilbo took out a rope and tied it tightly to a rock and began his climb down. Fiona looked down and sucked in a breath. She was never to fond of heights...

She slowly climbed over and grabbed the rope, carefully sliding down. She reached the ground and sighed in relief. Bilbo patted her shoulder and they both retreated to the camps in Dale where man and elf were preparing their weapons. Fiona spotted Bard and Gandalf. She sighed, relieved that the old wizard was safe. Bard spotted her and his eyes widened "Fiona? What are you doing here?" He asked coming towards her.

"Bilbo Baggins and Fiona!" Gandalf said in shock. Fiona smiled at Bard

"Bilbo and I came to give you guys something. But it needs to be private" she said quietly to him. He nodded and motioned Bilbo and Gandalf to follow. He led them to a tend where the elven king stood, looking over maps. He looked up and locked eyes with Fiona "ah, the quiet one, and if I recall this is the halfling that stole my cell keys to my dungeon under the nose of my guards" he said motioning to Bilbo who blushed "erm sorry about that" he said sheepishly.

He and Fiona approached the table "we came to give you this" he said, revealing the arkenstone. Thranduiel, Gandalf and bard looked at it with shock

"How is this yours to give?" Bard asked.

"I took it as my 14th share of the treasure. I would have came alone but this little sneak caught me. She needs a bell around her neck" he joked looking at Fiona who just grinned.

"He may Change his mind if we issue a trade" Thranduiel mumbled. Fiona nodded "hopefully it can be so. I'll do anything to get him back to the way he was. Even if it means betrayal" Fiona mumbled sadly. Bard placed a hand on her shoulder "you are welcome here if such a thing happens" he said. Fiona nodded and tugged Bilbos hand "we better get back"

He nodded and followed her "fiona! May I have a moment with you!" Gandalf called. She nodded and looked to Bilbo "go on, I'll catch up" she promised. Bilbo nodded and left while Fiona sat with Gandalf "I am sensing a great magic within your soul my dear.Tell me, have the spirits been in contact with you and Amanda lately?" He asked. Fiona slowly nodded "yes. They said something about using their greatest power to rise the fallen. But it comes with a price, that I do not know yet. Amanda has a different form too. She used it to defeat Smaug" she explained.

"Yes, Bard told me. I need you both to take care if this happens again. We do not know how powerful these spirits can be" he said. Fiona nodded and stood "understood." She whispered before exiting the tent.

"Fiona wait!"

Fiona turned in time for Bard to stop before her. He sighed "i want to apologise for what happens in lake town, I shouldn't have when I knew you were Thorins I...."

Fiona stopped him by raising her hand "it's fine bard, no harm was done. I'm just hoping for our sake there will be no war. I have to go" she mumbled before dashing off, leaving bard alone.

She caught up with Bilbo and both managed to climb back into the mountain "don't say anything if he asks who gave the stone to them. I'll take the fall" Fiona said to Bilbo who began to protest but she held his arms "I'm only protecting you my friend, you need to remain here if was is to begin. No arguments" she said seriously. Bilbo opened his mouth to argue but closed it "if it gets out of hand, I will be there for you" he said. Fiona nodded and went back to her resting place. Mentally preparing for the next day where war would happen..
