The friend group's relaxed and relieved attitude completely evaporated, leaving the anxious teenagers to nothing but shock.

You were obviously the first to speak up and break the piercing silence that had grasped the room and stripped it of the childlike playfulness that your new friends (especially Montana) had created.

"Hey, Hey!" You say, your only reason for speaking was to comfort Brooke, "It's going to be alright, his facility is probably miles away! And, why would he come back here?"

You spoke confidently even though you didn't feel it inside.

Truth be told, inside, your stomach was twisting into knots that'd be impossible to untie.

"W-Why did the power go out though?" Ray begun, reasoning through his doubt. It was obvious he was thinking the worst, "What if he's already here!?"

Everyone froze yet again.

It felt so dark in the room, it was almost as if the lack of light was feasting on any joy that had previously been there.

"I bet it's Nurse Rita playing a sick prank on us." Xavier says, leaning back on the cabin wall with his hands in his pockets.

Chet unfroze with those words.

"That's just evil, man!" He exclaims, looking down at the floor with his eyebrows raised in disbelief.

"Maybe it's just Margaret turning the power off now that she thinks we're asleep?" You suggest, but no one exactly payed attention.

The room filled with questions, taking up all the space and making it feel almost claustrophobic

"Calm down!" Montana says, her smooth voice slicing through the air around her.

"B-But what if-" Brooke started speaking only to be cut of by none other than yourself.

"Brooke, you'll be fine! Come on!" You say, accidentally snapping slightly, "It's not like two serial killers are going to come after you!"

Those words silenced Brooke completely and she looked taken aback.

Montana hid a smirk.

You glanced at Montana, glaring at her before attempting to apologise to Brooke.

But Brooke was already out the door.

You could just make out her figure strutting across the gravel and to the payphone, her ponytail swinging in pendulum.

"Huh.." Xavier says, he'd barely noticed Brooke leave either.

"She gets offended way to easily!" Montana laughs.

You laughed along with her but knew deep inside that it was wrong.

It was completely understandable how worked up Brooke was getting about serial killers.

She was (almost) attacked by one last night, she didn't need two nights running.

Truthfully, you got attacked way more than she did but you came from a tough family so it felt like small fry to you.

"What do you recon she's doing?" Ray asks, staring at Brooke with admiring eyes.

"Calling home? school? friends maybe? I don't know." You say, watching Brooke just as well.

Through your peripheral vision, you noticed something move behind you.

It was Montana.

She was staring out a window.

At a figure.

A figure in a black coat.

You glanced at Montana's facial expression and strangely, she seemed completely relaxed, of not, relieved!

When you returned your eyes back to where the figure was standing, it was gone.

Maybe it was just your vivid imagination.

"Y/n?" Montana questions, completely out of the blue, "Can I drink your beer can?"

This is so cringy that you can tell I've got back to school. The writing is so... detailed.
