~ CHAPTER NINETEEN ~
Hello kids.
Welcome back.
I'm trying to post a bunch of chapters really soon to make up for not posting for so long.
Without further ado, onto the story.
When I woke up, it was morning. The light was gently filtering in through the window, showdowns cast as the sheer curtains blocked the rays more heavily in some places than others.
The smell of cooking food wafted through the air.
It made me feel sick.
The last time I had eaten was when I had that apple the other day.
I wondered who was cooking for a moment but then realized that I was in an unfamiliar setting.
It was clearly a living room, decently sized. The walls were a light shade of grey, the couches were a nice blackout color. The curtains were a slightly darker shade of grey than the walls, and the floors were made of imitation hardwood, which I could tell was actually tile.
There were wooden accents and small, green succulents around the room as well.
You could tell just by looking at it that the owners were well off.
Then the events of last night hit me like a truck.
Remembering what happened, my grip on the blanket instantly tightened.
Then I noticed I had a blanket over me.
It was good quality, a shade of light green, matching the small plants.
I sat up on the couch, now knowing exactly where I was.
Dang it, this had to happen? I doubt Eraser will let me leave now.
...I could sneak away.
I was about to begin my slinking into the shadows, when a loud voice called out.
"Looks like the little listener is awake."
I could just hear the origin's audible smile.
I winced, now unable to hide, I didn't know what to do.
I stared onward with a blank face as Eraser walked into my line of sight.
Great.
Just what I needed.
It would have been nice if it were just one of them home, but alas, they were both here to oversee my every move.
"Come eat, kid." The raven haired man encouraged me to get up, but my apathetic gaze lingered.
"Please? Little listener, you have to eat something." Mic was less closed off with his emotions, making it possible of me to hear clear worry and genuine pleading in his voice.
I have to say, it almost made me want to get up and do as he asked.
Too bad for him that I'm a little more stubborn than that.
I sat there for another few minutes, until I put on a fake smile and acted as if everything were okay.
I stood and folded the blanket I was previously wrapped in, placing it over the back of the couch, and looked over at the two men who were now looking at me.
"Good morning, I'm sorry if I caused you any trouble, I can leave now if you want, I don't want to intrude." I rambled on, apologizing for being there.
"Hey, kid, no. Don't apologize, I brought you here." Aizawa spoke up, cutting off my rambling spree.
"Oh, oh... uh, sorry. No, sorry. Uh, sorry." I winced as I felt myself apologize for apologizing for apologizing.
I did this the other day and I was very embarrassed.
Mic laughed and Aizawa rolled his eyes with... what was that, fondness? No. That's not right.
He was probably annoyed at me.
"Come on kid, come sit down. Hizashi made waffles." Aizawa invited me to sit with them.
"A-ah, no, no, it's... uh, it's fine, I'm not that hungry anyway." The truth was I could have passed out from malnutrition right then and there, but I wasn't going to tell them that.
"Yea right, kid, sit down." Aizawa countered.
I walked over, staring at the ground as I did so.
Why wouldn't they just let me leave?
I sat at one of the stools at the island, still looking at the ground.
I heard some shuffling and a few seconds later a plate with two large waffles sat in front of me.
"Eat."
I wanted to protest, but when I looked up and met Aizawa's stern eyes with my defiant ones, I immediately moved my gaze back down.
I glanced up again, seeing his face. He looked triumphant. This little mushroom. So mean.
I wanted to get up and bolt out of there, but I was in a house with two pro heroes. One of which has a record of speed and agility, while the other isn't as fast, he's still trained to take down villains.
I was just a stupid Deku, I wouldn't be able to make it out of here.
After another few moments of hesitance, I began to eat the waffles, as I did so, Mic began to eat his own portion, while Aizawa's gaze never left me.
I got about a forth of the way through one of the waffles, when I felt like I would vomit. Gosh darn it.
I looked up and met Aizawa's eyes again, pleading with him to let me stop. He seemed disappointed, giving me a stern look.
"One more forth, then you can be done."
I wanted to argue that I couldn't eat any more, but decided against it, as he could have told me to try more than that.
It took me a while longer, but I got it down and looked up at him when I finished.
I really felt like I could empty the contents of my stomach right now, but somehow the absence of disapproval on Aizawa's face made it worth it.
"Am I allowed to leave..?" I asked, hoping I would be.
"So you ask to leave here, but you'll bolt out of a police station without a second thought?" I winced. Mic spit out his tea.
"The little listener did WHAT?!"
"Yea, kid, you can go. Make sure you remember the deal though."
"Yea, I.. uh, I will."
I smiled at him, I lopsided smile, but a smile none the less.
Have a good day children.
