LUNA QUICKLY LEARNED THE HARDEST PART ABOUT BREAKING AND ENTERING WASN'T THE ACTUAL ACT OF BREAKING AND ENTERING.
It was taking Archie along for the ride.
Archie was such a boisterous character, if he were human they would've already gotten caught. Luna was lucky enough to have his voice only in her head, but his trotting, breathing, and attempts at silence were loud in her ears for everyone to hear.
But she could tell he'd been truly worried about leaving her another time in Chicago only to have it end badly too. His voice quavered when he said he wouldn't leave her again, and that was enough for Luna to let him come with her.
Getting the door balcony door unlocked hadn't been an issue, thanks to the Stoll brothers, but the actual sneaking through the house was.
"Archie," Luna hissed, not even halfway to the door of the empty bedroom they'd entered. It was all white and gold, clear of any sort of furniture. "Would you please stop breathing so loud?"
Her pegasus huffed. Am I not allowed to breathe now? Listen, I've got my wings tucked so tightly they're cramping and I'm moving slower than a satyr, cut me some slack!
"I can't cut you some slack, because if the others are in danger, we're their only way out! If we give ourselves away before we even get the chance to save them what kind of friend am I?"
I think you're still a hell of a friend, Luna. Archie mumbled. You already saved their asses once back there in Chicago. I thought you were dead. You were barely breathing. They don't deserve you.
Luna's heart raced in her chest. Had it really been that bad?
She gave Archie her most reassuring smile, knowing that there were better times to think about it. "Just... tread carefully, Archie. What's important is that I'm fine now."
Archie grumbled a few times, but made sure his hooves hit the floor softer than before, mimicking her tip toeing comically.
Luna remembered now very clearly what happened before she apparently saved the others. She remembered having to fight off Leo and Jason and she very vividly remembered their words, which were like punches to the gut and needles to the heart. Jason calling her pathetic and Leo telling her she was annoying.
You were crying like a baby over that fire, waiting for someone to save you.
Of course she didn't believe that they meant any of it, because they were still deep under Medea's magic, but it still hurt. Especially coming from her new friends. Still, she tried not to let it get the best of her, because while she had no idea what truly happened at Medea's store, she knew it was because of one thing.
