Chapter 14

Debby's POV

When Charles told me the dare, I froze.

The truth is my dad took me here to get me over my fear of swimming and he brought Jade and Amber along thinking that they could help me over come it

You see when I was young, I actually drowned and that started my fear and once I got over it, well actually I drowned again and that made me pretty scared now.

So when Charles told me that he wanted me to swim, I looked and saw the worry faces that Jade and Amber were having

By the way the only people who knew about my drowning incidents are my parents and Jade and Amber. Thats' why when I heard that Amber drowned I was actually very worried because I know how it feels.

I tried to make some excuses

"Do I have to??" I asked

"Yeah! It's a dare you know." Charles said

"Come on Charles! It's dark now and it's cold...." Jade whined

"Come on! It's a dare and one should do the dare!!" Charles exclaimed

We exchanged glances

"I a um.... I can't swim." I said

"You can't?!" Charles exclaimed

"Yeah..." I said a bit embarrassed because it makes me sound even more of a loser.

"That's alright. I mean if you can't then I'll just make you do something else." Charles said

"Yeah! Nothing to be embarrassed about." Ryan said comforting me

"I dare you to...... fit....... ten marshmallows in your mouth!" Charles exclaimed

"Deal!" I said happier that they weren't angry that I won't do the dare

Ryan passed me the bag of marshmallows and I started shooting marshmallows in my mouth it was actually hard because the marshmallows were the medium kind

I got up to 8 marshmallows in my mouth until I started having trouble

"Go! Go! Go! Go!" Charles exclaimed

"Two more Debby!!" Amber shouted

"You can do this!!" Jeff shouted

I placed one more in my mouth

"Yeah!!!" Ryan shouted

Which made me laugh and almost made me spill all of the marshmallows in my mouth

"Come on Debby!!!" Jade shouted

I took one more and placed it in my mouth

"Yeah!!" They shouted

"Hahaha that was amazing!!" Charles exclaimed giving me a plastic bag to spit the marshmallows out

I spat it and laughed

"Do we have anything to drink?" I asked

"We got Sprite." Ryan said handing me a can

"Thanks." I said drinking mine

"Alright!! Ryan!!! Truth or dare??" I asked

"Truth." He said

"Ok. What's the craziest thing you have ever done?" I asked

"Hmm when I was young, I caused a lot of people to go crazy." He said smiling

"Hahaha how?" Jade asked

"Well I was a mischievous kid back then and well I was a kid. Long story short I pulled the fire alarm." Ryan said

We laughed

"Alright! Last but not the least!!!!" Ryan shouted

"Amber!!" Ryan exclaimed

Ryan's POV

"Truth or dare?" I asked Amber

"Truth!"

"What is the scariest thing that has ever happened to you?"

"Well duh I just drowned today so hands down that's it." She answered very cooly

"Are you ok?" I asked

"Yeah. I prefer not to talk about it. I mean it doesn't matter right? It's done and I'm here and that's all that matters." She said

"Wow sooooooo deeeeeeeep." I said jokingly

Giggling filled the air

"OMG! Fun fact!" Jade exclaimed

"We're all going to be going to the same school!!!" Jade shouted

"Seriously?!" Charles exclaimed

"We're transferring to Bay Bridge." Amber said

"We go to Bay Bridge!" Jeff exclaimed

"Haha yeahh no shizz." Jade muttered and we laughed

"That's cool." Debby said

"Alright! Time to break!" Charles shouted

We looked at him with confused looks

"Ryan! You go with Jade. Debby! With Jeff. Amber let's go!" He shouted

"He just wants Amber." Debby whispered to me

"Hahaha yeah." Ryan said

"Dibs on the bonfire!" Debby shouted

"Damn it! Fine.... We're going to watch the stars." Charles shouted

"That leaves us to the water." I told Jade

"Oo!!! I looooovvvvveeeeee the water!!" Jade said

"Haha let's go then!" I exclaimed

I stood up and we started walking down near water.

"Your best friend just drowned and your other best friend hates the water. Doesn't that make you, I don't know scared of the water as well?" I asked her

"Not really.... It's just.... I just love being in the water...."

"So you're a swimmer in your old school."

"No.... I wanted to try out but I don't know it's just I love to swim and I just think that if I join the swimming team, then I might end up hating it and I don't want that."

"I understand. "

"Swimmer?" She asked

"Yup swimmer." I said smiling

"I really love to swim so I get what you're getting at. I think that if you truly truly love to swim then even with the trainings and competitions and not to imagine the stress you'd still end up loving it or having a good time." I said

"Wow. You're right. I think I will try out for the swim team in Bay Bridge. "

"That's great!"

"Thanks for the words of wisdom Ryan. I think I needed that."

"No prob'! That'll be 5 dollars."

"Hahaha In. Your. Dreams."

"I'll keep dreaming then!!"

We went to the ocean and dipped our toes in and boy was it cold!

We talked about everything about ourselves. Our likes and dislikes, hobbies, etc. We walked in the beach side by side with my shoes on my left hand and his shoes with his right hand while my right hand and his left hand were busy being entangled with one another.

And I thought to myself that nothing could be more perfect than this.
