I couldn’t help but let more tears fall from my eyes. I opened the box and inside it was a pair of diamond earrings and a huge diamond ring. I gasped at what I saw. This was my mother’s jewelry that she wore to every special occasion. It was passed down to her from her great grandmothers. I put the ring on and it was a perfect fit. I placed the earrings into my ears. I was putting the box down on the floor when another small box fell out. I grabbed the box and slowly opened it. Inside was my mother’s wedding ring. It was a smaller ring than the one I had on my finger. I held the ring in my hand and let out a deep sigh. I searched for my phone and opened it.

‘Thank you Aaron, I love you.’ I text him.

I needed to buy me a safe box to keep this treasure inside. It was too late now to go anywhere so tomorrow will have to do.

I woke up to the sound of my alarm blaring in my ear. I forgot to put it on charge last night and the battery is almost out. I got up from bed and headed straight into the bathroom. I showered and put on my bathrobe. I headed out into my closet to choose something to wear.

I put on my outfit and brushed my hair. I quickly applied makeup. I wanted to be a little dressier today so I opted for concealer under my eyes and on some blemishes. I applied eye shadow primer then directly applying my rose gold eye shadow from my Naked 3 pallet. I applied black eyeliner to my lids making sure the wings were not too long. I applied some translucent powder followed by blush. I wore my light pink lipstick. I decided to keep my hair natural since it will become curly. I changed my purse since I wanted a bigger one, grabbed my phone and books. I was ready.

I headed downstairs, walking into the kitchen. I grabbed an apple and water ignoring my brother, April and my father.

“Good morning Aubrey” my father says

I grabbed my car keys and walked out the back door. I jumped into my car and headed for school.

I didn’t know why I was so mean to my family. I guess I just blamed them for Aaron leaving.

My school was uneventful, I told my friends of what happened. Luke was sick, he got a stomach flu. So I was lonely at school.

When the final bell rang, I decided to go see Luke, I stopped by Joe’s first to get him chicken soup. It was his favorite. When I reached Luke’s house. His parent’s cars were not there but I saw his bright yellow FJ Cruiser in the driveway.

I got out of the car, fished for his house keys and unlocked the door. I went up the three flights of stairs to his room. I knocked on the door but there was no answer. I peeked my head in to find the room completely dark.

“Luke?” I call out

“Mmm?” Luke says softly

“Baby it’s me. I brought you some chicken soup.” I tell him walking in and closing the door. Letting my eyes adjust to the dark. I headed over to his bed and sat down. He opened his eyes and sat up. He honestly looked horrible. I placed the bowl in his lap and gave him a spoon. The room needed light. I got up and walked to his floor length window. I pulled the curtains back and the room lit up. I opened his balcony door to get a little air into the room. I looked back at Luke who was still eating soup quietly. I walked over to him and joined him on his huge bed. I curled up to him and laid my head on his shoulder.
