My Happy Ending

Chapter 11

“Aubrey?” I hear a knock on my door.

“Shit. Luke get up!” I try to wake him.

“Aubrey? Why is your door locked?” I hear Aiden ask trying to open the door.

“Wait, one minute!” I say.

“Luke get up. My brother is going to kill you!” I whisper shout at Luke.

Luke gets up and grabs his clothes. He rushes into my bathroom. I run to grab my bathrobe and shrug it on. I was about to unlock the door when I noticed Luke’s shoes. I grabbed them and tossed them into the bathroom shutting the door.

I unlock the door and pull it open.

“What’s up?” I ask Aiden.

“April wants us down for breakfast” Aiden says

“Okay be down in a few!” I say smiling at Aiden.

I watch Aiden begin to descend the stairs and I close the door and lock it.

I open the bathroom door and find Luke already dressed.

“Let me shower then I will sneak you out!” I tell him, removing my bathrobe and jumping into the shower.

After my hot shower, I walked into my closet and decided on my outfit. I put on my thick black leggings and my long fuzzy pink colored sweater. I grabbed my house slippers and brushed my hair. I opened my bedroom to check if anyone was in the hallway. The coast was clear. I grabbed Luke’s arm and pulled him down the stairs. I was trying really hard to hear if everyone was in the kitchen. If my instincts were right, then the coast was clear. Luke opened the front door and was halfway out when we heard April’s voice.

“Luke, what are you doing here so early?” she asks

“Umm…” I start, but was interrupted by Luke

“Oh hey April, I just came by to see if B wanted to go out for breakfast?” he says smiling innocently.

“Oh okay, I made breakfast. How about you join us?” April asks.

“Sure that would be great!” Luke says smiling and giving me a peck on my cheek. I let out a long breathe that I didn’t know I was holding.

We follow April into the kitchen and everyone was already seated. I sat next to Aiden and Luke took a seat next to me.

April had really outdone herself this time. She made eggs, bacon, toasts, a fruit salad and fresh orange juice. She had made me oatmeal with cinnamon. We all ate our breakfast. Today Aaron had a doctor’s appointment. I wanted to attend the appointment but thought I shouldn’t in case I wasn’t able to stop crying.

Currently I was sitting on the couch watching Luke, Jake and Josh play COD. I was bored. I don’t see the entertainment in this stupid game. It was all about fighting and guts were always flying everywhere. I got off the chair to get my phone from my room. I grabbed my phone and checked my messages. I was coming down the stairs, my eyes glued to my phone. I missed the last few steps and came tumbling down the remaining stairs. I landed with a big thud.

“B, are you okay?” Luke asks rushing over to me

“Aubrey! Are you hurt?” Jake asks

“What was that noise?” My father asks coming into the hallway.

“I fell down the stairs, but I am fine. Don’t worry!” I say rubbing my head.

“We need to take you to the hospital!” April says concern written all over her face.

“No, it’s fine. I just bumped my head. Don’t worry. We need to be there for Aaron” I say standing up. I felt a little dizzy but brushed it off.

I walked into the kitchen to get a glass of water. I honestly didn’t feel good. My head hurt, my arm hurt and I felt dizzy. It is normal, I think.

I grabbed an apple and turned to exit the kitchen when I felt the earth spin and I had to grab the table to steady myself. I stood there for a few seconds before I heard Aiden and Aaron in the hallway. I walked over to them.

“You guy’s leaving to the appointment?” I ask taking a sip of my water.

“Yeah, we need to get going.” Aaron says

“Where’s Julie?” I ask

“She went to see her folks. She will meet us at the hospital.” Aaron says holding his phone to his ear.

“Ready Aaron? We better get going!” my dad says coming down the stairs, April hot on his heels.

“Are you sure you’re okay Aubrey?” April asks touching my arm.

“Yeah I am fine. Don’t worry!” I tell her giving her a smile.

“Let’s go!” My dad says gabbing his keys off the table. I watch them silently as they walk out the door. I really hope everything goes well.

“No way, you cheated!” I hear Aiden yell. I walk into the family room and watch my boyfriend and brothers play. Seriously boys will be boys. I was about to turn around and head into the kitchen when I felt even more dizzy than before and I had to clutch the door frame to keep myself from falling. Thank goodness no one saw this. Otherwise I would have been rushed to the hospital. I needed to lay down.

“I am going upstairs to my room.” I say to them

“Okay, be up in a few!” Luke tells me trying so hard to beat Aiden.

I started climbing the stairs. About halfway through I had to hold onto the railing, I felt that I was going to faint. I don’t want to tell anyone because Aaron is more important. I finally reached the top stairs and immediately felt that I was going to blackout. 

I needed to reach my room. I wanted to lay down. The whole upstairs hallway was spinning. My door was moving left to right. My eyes felt heavy, my vision blurred, my knees felt weak and my hands were desperately trying to find something to steady myself. I was almost there, I kept telling myself. But just when I was about to touch my door knob, the blackness took over, falling to the ground. I hit the edge of the door frame and a piercing pain went through the left side on my forehead. I hit the floor with a thud.
