“Ma’am please calm down. Officers are heading your way now.” She says worriedly.

‘Put your hands where I can see them!” I hear an officer shout.

“The officer is here!” I said relieved.

“Stay on the phone ma’am.” The operator says.

Luke and I were both peering from the small window if the cabin. The shooter had tried to take off in the opposite direction, the police men were chasing after him. They were running around a building and went out of sight.

‘Hey we’re up here!’ someone yelled from one of the cabins.

The police officer turned the machine back on and once everyone was out of the cabin, the police escorted us to the student union. Luke and I rush in search for Aiden and Petra. We found them in a corner. Petra was sobbing uncontrollably. Everyone here was crying, some students were hurt badly while others had some scrapes and bruises.

Aiden held Petra in his arms.

“What happened?” Luke whispers to me.

“Have no idea” holding his hand tightly.

We sat around them. I placed my hand on Petra’s shoulder to give her some sympathy. After a while, Petra had gotten up to see her squad.

“What happened?” I asked Aiden, who looks sad for Petra.

“Her friend passed away” he says

“Omg, the shooter?” I asked

“Yeah, they were on the float when he opened fire.” Aiden says

“What a psychopath!” Luke says

“Yeah. Petra and some others ducked behind the statue, while others took off running.” Aiden says

“So she was one of the runners?” I asked

“No, he shot her first. Her body is still on the float.” He says quietly

“Omg, that poor girl’s family.” I say

“Her boyfriend is with me on the team, a good friend of mine. He’s so devastated” Aiden says as his eyes avert to a man who is sitting alone clutching a photo.

He looked so sad. His eyes were red, his hands had blood on them.

“He found her, took two police men to remove him from her body!” Aiden says quietly.

My heart went out to him. I was in pain, I didn’t know the girl but I could tell that he loved her. At that moment Petra walked over to him and hugged him tight. He began to sob into her shoulder. My eyes started to water and I began to remember the pain of losing my mother. I don’t wish this pain on anyone.
