Today was bright and sunny which to be honest wasn't irregular in Benidorm. Hopefully today we would have slightly less drama. I had already worked through breakfast and it was now about 11:00 which I meant I was working inside till 1:00.

I walking to reception where I was meant to work when I saw Donald and Jaqueline making a complaint. I made my way behind the desk and asked Janie "what's going on?".
"Mr and Mrs Stewart have broken their bed again so need a room" she said in a very annoyed tone.
"Right well, we have had to change your rooms once already this week," I thought back to the other day when they had broken the bed for the first time. "And it's the Solana's busiest week currently so unfortunately I don't think we're going to be able to change your rooms" I stated calmly.
"How have you managed to break two beds in less than a week?" Janie questioned.
"It's ridiculous the beds simply aren't sturdy enough" Donald complained. His wife nodded from behind him.
"I can assure you all our beds are reinforced to withstand up to 50 stone. We know what we're doing" Janie spat.
"I mean this is Benidorm. It's hardly a Mecca for the anorexic" I joked.
"Well if we were really going at it with three or four friends on the bed well fair enough" Jaqueline stated casually. "But it was just the two of us". Her husband agreed. I was about to say something but all I could thing of was the image Jaqueline had put in my head.
"The thing is" Janie stopped mid sentence and said exactly what I was thinking "three or four friends?". The image began to sink into her as well by now.
"We're a very sociable couple" Donald explained. Normally I'm a very opened minded person but I couldn't help but gag a little at his comment.
"That's one word for it" I muttered.
"But the thing is this is the second time it's happened so I should actually charge you for the repair of the bed" Janie said.
"Well I'm sorry but we don't bring any cash on holiday with us. That's why we book all inclusive".
"Well maybe you could ask your three or four friends to chip in" Janie suggested. I held in a laugh out of politeness but I loved her sass.

I began to sort out the bed situation when Kelly a previous co-worker and Mateo ex fiancé appeared.
"Mr and Mrs Stewart!" She exclaimed.
"Hello darling" Jaqueline greeted.
"Kelly how are you?" Donald asked.
"Oh I'm really well thanks" she replied.
"I thought you left?".
"Yeah I have I work in a bar in the old town now".
"Um am I invisible or something?" I wondered out loud from behind the desk. I looked in my direction and when she saw her eyes widened.
"Gaby!" She happily gasped. I jumped over the desk and ran over to her pulling her into a hug.
"Hiya" I finally said when we pulled away from the hug. "What brings you back here?".
"Well my mums staying here for a couple of days".
"I'll send someone up to try and fix it" Janie suddenly piped up from behind us. "It's 204 isn't it?". The couple didn't protest so Janie took that as a yes.
Kelly continued "Yeah after all the trouble with Mateo last year she thinks she needs to look after me". I thought back to last year when Mateo cheated on Kelly probably not for the first time. I still hadn't forgiven him for that. She deserved better.
"Well if she's got half your charm I can't wait to meet her" Donald said cheerfully.
At that moment a tanned angry looking woman with short white hair scooted into the room on a wheelchair. I thought she was Madge at first but soon realised she wasn't quite as tanned as her. I was the only one who seemed to notice her as Donald and Kelly were hugging and Jaqueline was in a world of her own.
"Is this the dirty bastard?" She rudely asked. She was gesturing to Donald so I held in a laugh at the fact she thought he was the one who cheated on Kelly. They had both pulled out of the hug by now. "I'll kick your fat arse into the middle of next week! You should be locked up! You're old enough to be her father!" She raged. Kelly left Donald's and my side and stood next to her mum.
"Mum what are you doing?" She whisper shouted at her. "This is mr Stewart he's here on holiday" she explained to the rude old woman.
"Oh yeah. I thought he looked a bit pasty for a Spaniard". This women was very upfront.
"This is my mum Sylvia" Kelly introduced us looking a bit embarrassed. I gave her a friendly smile but she just scowled back.
"Pleasure to meet you Sylvia. I'm Donald. This is my wife Jaqueline" he greeted very cheerfully and warmly. I swear he literally says that every time they meet we someone though. She gave an unenthusiastic smile.
"My condolences" she remarked. I turned to look at Jaqueline and noticed that she wasn't fazed at all at the woman's insult.
"Don't worry I always to used to keep an eye on Kelly when she worked here" Donald reassured.
"Yeah I bet you did" she spat.
"Mum!" Kelly scolded. The old woman turned her attention to me.
"And who are you?" She demanded. I swallowed my pride and replied nicely to her.
"Sorry, I'm Gaby. I used to work with Kelly here". I smiled sweetly at her but she didn't return it.
"And do you still work here?". At this point I was thinking that maybe she wasn't as bad as I thought.
"Yep I love this place I don't think I could leave if I wanted too".
"Great, where's the bar?". Nope I had it right the first. "And I hope your rooms have air conditioning cos I'm sweating like a pig on heat!". I practically had to pinch my outer thigh to stop me flipping her off.
"All the rooms here are equipped with the best qualities fans in all of Benidorm" I said through gritted teeth. "And the bar is just through there" I pointed to a door leading to the bar. She nodded and scooted of without a thank you or anything. When she had her back turned to me I stuck my middle finger up at her and mouthed "fucking bitch".
"I'm sorry about that. She's just really protective" Kelly said.
"And so she should be" Donald said. He was way too nice.
Janie shouted from behind us "Mateo! Room 204. See if you can fix the bed!" Just by hearing his name Kelly tensed up. When he appeared I went to stand by her to comfort her.
"Kelly you are back" he said in mock happiness. We both knew all he wanted from her was sex. He took a big step so he was closer to her. "I have thought about nothing but you since you left me".
"Cough* Bollocks! *cough" I fake coughed. "Excuse me" I said with mock pardon. Mateo glared at me. Kelly looked uncomfortable.
"It's really nice to see you mr and Mrs stewart and you Gaby. I'll see you later" she then picked up her suitcase and left without saying word. Mateo still wasn't giving up though. He started to follow her
"Kelly I have been counting the day until I.." he began. I cut him off by standing in front of him with my arms folding.
"Don't you dare!" I warned. He went to speak but I cut him off again. " I have thought of nothing but you since you left" I mocked. "I've never had such bullshit". He seemed taken aback but still looked persistent. "News flash! She didn't want you anymore after what you did to her! And guess what? After a year apart she still doesn't want you!" I sassed and before he could reply I turned and went to the reception desk and finished working.
