Chishiya fiddled with the card in his fingers, looking at it curiously as he sat on the sofa. His eyes scanned it with interest, his lips ajar and his mind ignoring any other distraction around him.I could only sigh softly as I frowned, watching the boy become interested in a simple solitary card.
I almost wished it was me he was looking at with so much attentiveness and fervency.
"Do you think we're supposed to collect the cards?" I hummed, holding the phone in my hand presenting the days on my visa.
Chishiya and I had walked back together discussing the idea about the days on the visas, however, Chishiya seemed to understand what the visa was after only a few moments of questionable ideas from my part.
"Days to live" He said aloud, and I glanced at him in the darkness barely able to make out his features, I found my shoulder hit against his own every now and again purposely so I could reassure myself he hadn't left me. "Surely thats it"
I questioned his finalisation, finding that I couldn't come to terms with the fact our days were numbered and we knew just how long we had left to live - Although, it was like life itself... only this time we knew. I wondered just how we would die, so I asked him how they would kill us.
But my question was answered with a sharp shining sound in the sky, and the sky was almost raining down in red lasers, I paused in my footsteps as I looked up at the sky. The red lasers falling down with a loud shining sound before ultimately disappearing back to the night sky where they had appeared from.
"We die like that" Chishiya stated, and I heard him shuffle closer to me, his shoulder hitting mine. "I wonder if there's any escape"
"We'd have to play more games, earn more days" I stated aloud, and I found myself a little afraid of the sudden passion behind my voice - I didn't want to die, not after just being reunited with Chishiya.
The boy lit up by the candle light in the room finally looked away from the card he was staring at, and he looked up towards me. "That has to be it" he muttered, "If we collect all the cards-" he paused, finding that he smiled softly. "We can get out of here"
I frowned, "I don't want to play another game... what if they're worse than the one we just played? What if more people die-"
"I think that's why this place was created, to kill people" Chishiya interrupted, and he stood up, placing the card on the table near the table before walking towards me, he sat next to me and chuckled, "This place is cruel"
"How are you laughing?" I mumbled. I couldn't help but think about the time he presented a sort of twisted excitement behind his brown eyes, I only presumed that within the wicked game he was finding some excitement, some joy, he wasn't scared of death nor was he afraid of the game, instead he was rather content where he was
"Shock" He stated, and he held my eyes carefully, scanning over my pain and fear etched face. "You're scared... why?"
I always knew Chishiya was able to understand the emotions portrayed in my face, after being by my side after so long he was able to identify my feelings with a simple glance. Similarly, I could just about do the same.
"Is it not obvious?" I stated, and I shook my head gently, "I just can't quite wrap my head around everything going on"
Chishiya shuffled closer towards me, my heart rate increased rapidly as I noticed his right hand lift softly, his cold hand was pressed against my cheek for a moment.
With his soft touch I fell into his hand gradually afraid of showing him that with the simple action I felt at peace. I was comfortable.
His hand stroked a hair behind my ear before he allowed his other hand to lift to the top of my head, there he pulled at my stray hairs, placing my hair back in the parting that had originally been there, his fingernails brushing over my hair in an attempt to make it look brushed. "You don't have to be afraid" he said, his eyes not staring at mine but instead at the hairs he was sorting out for me. "We're not in a game at the moment, you don't have to be afraid" he admitted, and quickly his hands were slapped against my cheeks, there he squeezed my cheeks tightly causing me to widen my eyes at his actions, his hands were cold but despite the dried blood there I felt comfortable in the strange action.
"Y/n I'll make sure that when we're in those games we will be in them together... when we're in them you'll be my main priority"
My throat dried up with his sincere words almost instantly, my cheeks feeling hot, I felt my heart skip a couple of beats as my stomach whirled in emotions. "You don't have to" I whispered, it was the only thing I could say, I wasn't sure if it was the correct words to utter in this situation but my mouth spoke without my brains permission.
Chishiya leant towards me, shaking his head. "I know that. I just want to"
I smiled gently, staring into his oak eyes before allowing my eyes to glance at the entirety of his face, I glanced towards his lips for a moment, and strangely... I pondered my vision there.
"We should get to bed, y/n" Chishiya spoke, and he pulled his hands away from my hot cheeks, leaning backwards as he took a stand, towering over me for a moment. "I'll sleep on the sofa here, you stay there" he said, walking away from me.
I found myself sinking into the seat I was on, frowning gently. I almost craved his touch again, wanting nothing more than a fleeting second to go back in time and fully take in his touch, his gentle words, his kind eyes.
"Goodnight Y/n"
Chishiya blew out the candle.
"Goodnight, Chishiya"
I heard him chuckle softly to himself, it sounded like a chuckle of happiness and contentment. "I'm thankful for you y/n"
"Eh?" I whispered.
"Thankful you came to find me, thankful that you're here now... don't be so stupid during these games like you always have been with games in the past" he said, a clear smile gracing his lips.
"I won't be, and anyways you'll be by my side now, right?"
"Yeah... I won't leave your side from now on y/n"
