His voice was lighter and more relaxed than the times he spoke with me assuming that he was talking to one of his guys. My eyes were now trained on the end of the stairs, waiting for him to appear.
My memory was hazy from the first night I saw him, probably from all the adrenalin of the events so all I could remember was his height and how he filled our small house.
The thing I didn't expect to see when my eyes finally met the figure at the end of the stairs was for him to be half naked.
He only wore pants and boots, his upper half was on full display. And believe me, I wanted to turn my head that instant, show him that the sight that was in front of me did not faze me.
I couldn't.
Instead, I let my eyes take it all in for three more seconds and then turned myself to face Brit. I didn't even wait to see the look on his face for my presence here.
First and foremost, I didn't like him. His first impression was a rude one for me and he didn't exactly corrected that first impression the second time we encountered but I had to admit, I couldn't say the same thing for his body and I didn't care if thinking these things were a betrayal to my own self.
Since the moment I stepped into that plane that took me to Kaden, almost all my sexual thoughts and desires seem to have disappeared into thin air simply because I had nothing that my hormones could drool over on a daily basis.
Very subtle wet dreams were now a rare event that left me even more frustrated but I got better at ignoring it and focusing on my job here.
Lee had no effect on my hormones in that sense which we were both very much happy about it, he was no different than a brother to me.
As a result of all of that, seeing someone naked, not only anyone but a well-built man naked, sent a jolt to my hormones.
It was a little embarrassing to admit it but it was the truth. Even though I disliked everything else about the guy, I had to admit that he was not bad on the eyes.
His looked like how I would imagine a soldier to look like, toned and strong. I think I saw some scars but I couldn't be sure since I turned around without paying attention to them.
"I didn't know we had company." He didn't acknowledge me and talked straight with Brit and that alone replaced my hormonal thoughts with frustration.
Brit's eyes went from him to me as he talked. "Yes, I was keeping Ms Lown company."
He didn't say anything but I noticed the looks they exchanged quickly.
"Let me introduce you officially." Brit started as he got up from his seat and I followed him.
"Captain, here is Ms.Vanessa Lown and Vanessa, meet the captain of our team." He shot a look towards Captain's way but continued anyways. "Hunter."
Finally.
I let a small, victorious smile show up on my face.
At that moment, I knew Brit was with me on this one. He knew this name thing was ridiculous and he decided to be the one that brought this to an end.
A threatening look came through Hunter's eyes but thankfully I wasn't the one on the receiving end.
"Nice to finally meet you, Ms Lown. Excuse my attire."
I was actually expecting him to leave the room but instead he came forward and waited for me to shake his hand.
Even if I wanted nothing more than to reject his offer, I had manners, so I shook his hand and answered;
