DELTA

It was dark but it was warm so I felt safe. My hands cover my ears, muffling the sounds that swirl all around me. I've had my eyes forced shut for so long I'm starting to see stars dancing behind my eyes. Completely transformed back to a place I swore I would never return to. I can feel the darkness gripping at my chest, slowly consuming me.

I'm jolted back from my memories by a firm pair of hands on my shoulders. My eyes shoot open to find Red standing in front of me, fear covering his face while he shakes my shoulders.

"Angel." Is all he says to bring me back to the present.

He's coming for me. Why? Why does he want me back? Months turned to years of our dismal relationship. There was no passion, no spark, nothing worth fighting for. He stole something from me and instead of sticking up for myself I ran. He should be happy I'm gone. Why is he doing this?

"Don't know angel. But it doesn't fucking matter. Loser won't lay his hands on you ever again." Red replies, I clearly said some of that out loud.

"How do you know? What does he want?" I say slightly louder than I expected and all eyes turn to me.

"Please everyone. Focus. Cali boys get here within the hour. Skulls are clearly pulling something that we've never dreamed of. You thought them pushing fentanyl was bad? Child's play. No clue what Dean Thompson has to do with all of this but the Skulls prospect said his name and that his wife Delta was in our possession. Skulls plan to use that in their favour. Delta, that name sound familiar to you?" Buck asks me directly. I gulp loudly, unsure of how to answer the club president.

"Dean, he's my...was my husband. He just got the divorce papers last week. I thought this was all over... Dean he's a good guy though. A lawyer, friends with police officers, never even got a speeding ticket." I ramble out but I'm not sure why I immediately jump to defend him.

"You're here for a reason aren't ya? Must not be as good of a guy as you thought." Buck says bluntly. With that I feel Reds hands slide off my shoulders and instantly miss feeling his heat radiating behind me.

"Yeah... people change. But still I have no clue how he would get involved in something like this, like I said most of his friends are police officers. And how would he know I'm here? I ran without telling anyone where I was going. Fate or luck or whatever it is lead me here.... no one should know." I drift off.

"No one?" I hear from behind me. But it's too late, I've already connected the dots. The only person who knows where I am.

"My sister." I choke out. "Bea. She knew."
