DELTA
"Hello?... Hello may I help you?" His voice rings out and fills the entire room.
"Hello? Who is this?" He asks, dripping with charm.
"Delta?" He finally asks.
"Yeah." Is all I can choke out. Reds hands return to my shoulders, bringing me back down to earth.
"Delta Jesus Christ. Where the hell are you? I've been worried sick! Weeks without a single word you just up and leave me? Your husband? What about the vows we made to each other. You send me divorce papers from a stranger? Jesus Christ." He belts out.
I can't contain the laugh that bubbles out of my chest.
"Cut the shit Dean. I'm alone, not with my parents or anyone else so you can drop the act. We all know why I left. Why I can't stand another day being attached to you." I say pushing my shoulders back my sister is at stake here, no room for fear or cowardice.
"Whatever. What can I help you with wife? Your new boyfriend get my message?"
My stomach drops but I push forward.
"Yeah we all got the message. What the hell have you gotten yourself in to?" I accuse.
"Nothing to worry your pretty little head over. Or is it still pretty? Your face heal up okay?" His voice contains an evil sound that I swear I have never heard before.
"Nothing to worry your pretty little head over." I parrot back to him. "Where's my sister Dean? What do you want from me? There is no way you want me back that badly, there was no love left in our relationship."
"No love darling? All I've done is love you. Your sisters fine. Had some questions I needed to ask her, how else to you expect a husband to find his long lost love?" He says with a laugh. "Actually she should be heading your way, now that I know where you are. With a little present from my new friends, now now don't worry it's nothing like the present from earlier. No guns involved in this one."
"What the fuck are you playing at Dean? What have you done? Where the fuck is my sister?" I scream out as the phone disconnects.
I collapse back into my seat and feel a pair of big hands run through my hair and down my neck.
"She's coming. We've got this. Breathe." He says over and over.
"I've gotta go meet with the Cali boys, let them know somethings coming sooner than we thought. You get her home safe, keep her there. Decker you keep watch in the shop, make sure no one can get to Red and Delta." Buck explains as he exits the office.
The next hour is a blur. I'm trying my best to stay strong, not fall apart, break down and hide in bed. My sister needs me. These men need me. They've put their necks on the line for me and now some ominous unknown is coming their way and it's all my fault. They have families, wives and girlfriends who have become very fast friends of mine.
As we walk into the apartment I now call home a sense of clarity rushes over me.
I'll do whatever it takes to protect my family, and my new found family.
A knock sounds out and Decker puts his head through the front door.
"Someone here to see you Delta." He states. "She's cleared." He finishes looking at Red.
"Delta?" My baby sisters timid voice is heard before I can even see her. And when I finally do, I feel a rage I've never felt before.
"I'll kill him." Red and I say at the exact same time.
