They
Sadie's POV
==========="I'm not sure what I'm doing out here?" Sadie thought to herself.
Keira and her weird companions have shown me a lot of cool places to hangout. There's a cool vintage movie theater that shows up to date movies, thank heavens. A quarter that's very popular among tourists and no one seems to sleep. This is mostly known for bar hopping and wild nightlife. And, there's also a nice pasture where the water is frozen over and everyone gathers to ice skate.
It was nice to see others enjoying their loved ones. Smiling, and laughter filled the air. It was kind of contagious and I found myself getting lighter with joy.
But now, Keira and her friends said they would show me a nice quiet place I could go. "It's lovely here isn't it?" It was Lilly who spoke this time. "The trees are so fresh and alive. The air is thinner here, it seems to freeze everything in time."
She slinks over to stand directly in front of me. Her eyes seem to stare through me. Like she's searching for something. Maybe she wants me to say something.
"Ughh, yeah. It's definitely something to take in." I snap back to my senses realizing that I'm all alone out in the middle of no where with 3 people I barely know. And let's face it, I can call them a lot of things. Weird would be at the top of the list.
"How old are you. Ssadie?" Samuel spoke again.
All eyes seemed to draw to me when he asked that question. "Ugh, I'm 22." Noone spoke up after this. It took for Keira to clear the air.
"Well.. If you ever need a place to just come and think, dream or be one with nature. This is surely the spot to do it." Keira comes into my line of sight. Eve and Samuel in tow.
I find a large log tucked away, as if it had been snatched away from its proper place. Left to be a victim to the harsh snow, alone and dying. Sheets of snow lay on top of it and I trace my finger along its jaded sides.
I clear off a patch and sit against it. Facing up to the grey skies. Skies that I'll just have to get used to seeing from now on. A flake of snow dancing in the wind swirls down and lands softly on my cheek.
I'm once again forced back into the realization of the weird people I've become aqauainted with. Feeling a weight of someone standing in front of me. Lilly is in front of me, staring again. She uses a cold finger to gently wipe the snow flake from my cheek.
I look over at Keira, hoping see would see my despair and rescue me from the situation. God I miss Tracy.
What I see is even more strange to freak me out. Keira has her palm raised to caress Eves face. Samuel has placed himself behind her. One arm wrapped around her waist, the other tangled in her hair.
I may have imagined it but, I think Eve looked over and winked at me. Maybe it is the thin air, but all of a sudden it's hard to breath and a breathe gets hitched in my throat.
"I -" I struggle out to find my voice. " I really enjoyed today. Thanks for showing me all over your special places. The town really is beautiful but I think I ought to be headed home. My dad will be expecting me and I don't want him to worry."
