Bump In the Night
Jax POV
========The tires of his Jeep Gladiator scrubbed over the gravel as Jax pulled off the long dirt road. His team had placed a tracker inside the creep they had captured, and the coordinates he had been given to locate that creep would supposedly led to a secret rendezvous.
Jax spots an old broken down bridge in the distance and shuts off his headlights. He lets the key hang in the ignition while he gathered up his hunting gear. "It's just a recon mission but you can never be too careful." He couldn't help the slight sense of excitement bubbling inside.
Leaving the keys in, he hauls his gear bag onto his shoulder and walks into the night. The murmur of voices and music grew prominent as he got closer to the fallen bridge. "It sounds like their throwing a fucking party." Jax kneels down and pulls a pair of binoculars from his bag.
He finds a comfy spot and settles in for his night of steaking out. At almost one in the morning he was about ready to walk up there and start shit. But someone else had come to handle that job themselves.
Men and woman dancing, and the loud music blasting from near by speakers came to a halt. The women start running to the lake, quickly switching forms before diving into the safety below the waters surface.
He perks up to hear the screams filling the air around him. He almost missed it. A woman dressed from head to toe in a black, leather cat suit stands under the moonlit bridge. He could see the spikes lining her black high-heeled boots when she landed a kick right to a man's neck. Blood splattering all over the walls.
A lock of silver hair slipped from under the red wig she seemed to be wearing. Jax had a hard time keeping his composure. She did a cartwheel and landed ontop of a man's neck. Throwing him to the ground, snapping it. She was back on her feet and pulled her whip from her waist. Rolling it out, it wrapped around another victims neck and slammed him into the wall beside her. Not even bothering to turn, she pulls his head and snaps his neck over her shoulder.
Bodies are piling up on the floor but she doesn't stop. There's one victim left and she doesn't take this opportunity to kill him. Using her whip to hog tie him. She takes a seat on his back and leans down to whisper in his ear. The man lets out the most blood curdling screams and Jax soaked up the sound. Her mouth is streaked in blood and she spits his ear onto the floor.
"Use the last ear you have baby, and listen well. I want to know who your master is? I'm going to let you live. When you make it back. You tell em I'm coming for them." She leans over and licks the blood from his neck.
This is when Jax realizes who he's looking at. The gold speck in her eye bounces off the moonlight. Jax drops his binoculars and runs onto the platform lining the fallen bridge. "Keira, what the fucking is going on." Jax goes to grab her from behind but she grabs his arm and flips him over her shoulder. "Back the fuck off Jax. You shouldn't be here, so don't, get in my way."
The sucker she hog tied had weaselled his way out of her whip and was making a run for the lake. She stood up and dusted herself off. "Shit. Look what you did." She gathers her whip and starts to walk into the night.
Jax jumps up and runs to catch her. "Hey, stop. You can't walk away like this didn't just happen. Where the hell have you been? I don't hear from you in months and you just. Pop up! KILLING THESE THINGS!!"
Jax threw his hands in the air. Trying to level his voice. "Awe, did you miss me baby." She walks over and places her hand on his chest. "I've been..occupied..but in very good company. And, well taken care of." Rubbing her hands over his firm abs. Jax pushes her away. "You need to start talking, now Keira!"
"Fine!" She stared into the ocean he held as eyes. Looking for any emotion other than the typical one hunters put on display. "Just thought you'd want to know." She backed away realizing she wouldn't be able to avoid this conversation. "You're not the only one with a job hot stuff." She snatches the red wig from her head. "My people wish to stop this invasion. We don't care about the reason."
"Keira, this is dangerous. You can't run around playing vigilante." Jax reaches out to touch her but she shoves him away.
"I am not some damsel in distress. And, I definitely do not need the S.T.F's protection." She starts to walk away. "If you miss me, reach out like a normal person." She runs out into the night. Jax runs after her but she's jumped onto her Harley and pulls out into the forest.
Jax kicked into gear and ran out to his truck. Cranking the keys still in the ignition and pulls off. He jumped out onto the dirt road and hits the gas. He leaves his headlights off and tails Keira.
"If she thinks she's gonna be able to run off and hide, she's got another thing coming." Jax followes her back out onto the open road. It's a local road, but. This one looked familiar, he just couldn't figure out why.
Pulling to the side of the road, still with his lights off. He thanked, The Ancient Ones, that no cops where on the road or they would've surely held him up. Keira pulls into a drive way and parks her bike. "Whha.. Shit." Jax remembered that home all too well. He had burst his brain to get her out of it. And, he had silently vowed to NEVER come back.
Keira walks up onto the porch. Lingering on the doorstep she gave the door three rapid taps. Jax was sure he felt the temperature inside his truck cool. A breathe caught in his throat, he wasn't even sure if he was still breathing.
Pajamas on, with sleep in her eyes. SHE, answers the door. Her hair was pulled into a tight but messy bun sitting atop her head. She sees Keira and falls into her arms. Keira grabs hold of her chin and plants a kiss on her lips. Jax isn't sure how he feels watching their intense embrace in the open doorway.
Sadie steps back to make room and Keira steps into the dark house. Disappearing inside, Sadie goes to shut the door but there's a hesitation. She stares out into the dark night and for a second Jax felt hope. He reaches for the door handle but freezes. Keira appears once again to call Sadie inside. Wrapping her arms around her waist and whispering something in her ear.
Tugging Sadie back inside the darkened house. She peers out and Jax could have sworn she was looking directly at him. A smirk stretched across her face. And with that, she turns and shuts the door softly behind her.
Jax refused to leave. His mind told him that he needed to return to HQ and report his findings. But, his heart. He wasn't sure. It longed for him to stay. He needed to be in there, with her, wrapped tightly; safely in his arms.
He wasn't sure what Keira was playing at. Jax did not trust her to be alone with Sadie, that's for sure. Especially after seeing her slaughter so many creatures. Had she laid with her? He should have kept a closer eye on her? Obviously she was incapable of taking care of herself whilst her father is away. Jax needed to sort somethings out, reasonably, without these feeling. What was he feeling?
Jax sat in front of her home. Deciding whether he should call his task force to physically imprison Keira. Or, whether he should let this little game of hers play out. He couldn't let Sadie get hurt. She's innocent, delicate. Beautiful. Thats when Jax finally came to a conclusion. He wanted Sadie. No, he needed her. But, that isn't reasonably.
He decided he would out Keira. See how much Sadie cared for her after she found out she had let a killer into her home. A wolf in sheep's clothing lay in her bed, right up under the sheep's nose. Keira would have no where to hide. Jax smiled at the thought. Not of hurting Sadie, but how he would be the one to comfort her. Take her pain away and make her forget all about the woman she thought she knew.
Jax could see the sun coming over the horizon. He turned on his truck and pulled back onto the road. He has a new target, and this one has slept in his bed. He new she couldn't be trusted but how could she had played right up under him.
He needed to see how to safely extract Sadie and be there for her.
