Hunting Pains
Jax POV
======Jax walked into the bathroom, but slowed when the cold tile hit his bare feet. Walking over to the vanity, he takes a look at his reflection. Gripping the sink, he let's out a growl low in his throat.
The only thing on his mind was his evening spent with Sadie. Even after an amazing night, he still wasn't satisfied. Especially after it had gone so wrong. The blank expression on her face had really freaked him out. Just because you can handle things that go bump in the night doesn't mean you can handle a weird chick moment. Having to call Sandy over and messing up the entire night was not the plan. "Dammit!"
Jax smashes his fist against the sink and swipes everything to the floor. He turns on his shower and steps in to welcome the sizzling waters. He just had to get her to see that they were meant to be. The shower didn't calm his mind as much as he had hoped. Jax figured what better way to clear his head than The Hunt.
He begins to suit up.
He walks to his closet and presses the button on the right panel. The closet came to life and began to rotate. When the right rack comes to him, he grabs a black tee shirt, vest and pairs it with black jeans an combat boots. His weapon belts hang from the top of the closet and he grabs one that doesn't hold much.
"I think this one will do for today." He wraps it around his torso and shoves a taser along with his favorite hunting knife. Closing the closet door and walks into the hallway. The only thought was that he would kill time until he could convince Sadie to meet up and talk about what happened last night. Spence had other plans.
"Jax, meet me at the office in the city in 2 hours. No excuses, no detours."
-------------------His day had been shit, and on a steady decline. Spencer had busted his balls about being on a uncleared hunt detail and refused to let him off the hook. Jax sat in the corporate office located in the small town outside of his hidden city. Thinking Spence was just about ready to spit fire and blow steam from his ears.
"Got Dammit Jax. I told you. Don't let me catch you on a gotdamn hunt." He stands up from behind his desk and walks around it to stand in front of Jax. "You damn idiot, you let 2 teens die on your watch."
Jax jumps to defend himself. "Hey that shit had nothing to do with me. I was out for a walk and saw a couple for kids having a good time. That's it. How was I.. supposed... You know what .. screw this and screw you.. Its all in the fucking report."
"Sit the fuck down Hunter." Jax stared into the eyes of the only man he had ever even thought of as an ally. He considered what it would mean if he was no longer a team player. Jax slid back into his seat.
Spencer walked back to his desk and took a seat at the edge of it. "Don't be stupid Jax. You don't want eyes on you. People are questioning if you even wanted to step in and save those kids. That's grounds for dishonorable discharge and I wouldn't be able to save your ass."
Jax kept his mouth shut, hoping that would speed the conversation along and get to the consequences. He and Spence sat there quietly for a moment. Maybe he thought Jax would apologize, but there was nothing he felt he needed to be sorry for. He had saved those kids. They should be giving him a got damn medal.
Spence cleared his throat, breaking the tension. "Hhhhhm, so. Here's my proposal. No more hunts..." Jax decided this was the time to jump out of his chair.
