Zemo visited the store often; sometimes, he brought gifts to her when he knew she was feeling down. Katerina felt odd being spoilt by the man, but she did appreciate it. He was over to her store for another visit, her boss smirking as he entered.
"Katerina, your lover is here." She teased her friend. Katerina gasped and shushed her with wide eyes.
"Don't talk so loud. He is not my lover." She scolded. Her boss, Mistie, chuckled with her head thrown back.
"Yet." She singsonged. Katerina rolled her eyes with flushed cheeks as she exited the back of the store.
"Are you free?" He asked suddenly once she reached him.
"Yes. I am on my lunch break." She told him with a giggle. Helmut smiled and grabbed her hand, which earned them a whistle from Mistie. Katerina scoffed and followed Helmut out of the shop after waving goodbye to her boss and taking off her apron.
"I want to take you to lunch. My treat." He led her through the bustling city and to a very expensive restaurant.
"Helmut! I am not dressed well enough for this kind of restaurant." She hissed in his ear. Helmut simply chuckled and shook his head.
"You can wear anything and still look as beautiful as ever." She blushed deeply and walked into the restaurant with a shy smile and looked down at her filthy work shoes that were covered in green stem parts and her blue sundress that had a big bow on the back. She prided herself with her pretty wardrobe, but as she looked at the people in the restaurant, they were way classier than she. Even Helmut looked like he had more class than her. But technically, he did. He was a Baron, after all.
"Helmut, if I didn't know a better, I would think we're trying to have my heart." She said with a laugh, sitting down across from him. He pushed her chair in and sat down, ordering them some wine.
"And what if I am?" He asked. Katerina looked at him with wide eyes. She did like him—a lot. No one had treated her this good before. No one cared about her as much as he did after her family had died. She brushed some hair behind her ear shyly and giggled to herself. What if he was?
"I would like that." She spoke before she thought too much about it. He had flirted with her since the day they met, might as well do the same. Helmut smirked at her answer and leaned forward.
"We've known each other for weeks now... I would like to ask you something." He spoke up after a moment of them simply admiring the other. Katerina nodded her head for him to continue.
"I have a plan and would like you to be a part of it." They got strange looks as they spoke in their native tongue, but they both brushed them away. She knew this was serious. He had mentioned that he was working ona project, and she was curious about what it was. She leaned closer, almost bending over the table and looking him directly in the eyes.
