Chapter 42

Hyunjin and Jeongin are eating their lunch right now, just having another egg drop sandwich as the said dish is way too tasty to miss out. Chatter fills the huge VIP room that even the noise coming from the television becomes some sort of background music.

Both of them just enjoy the small moment, not realizing a pair of eyes that has been longingly looking at them for almost five minutes now.

"Jeongin-ah.." She eventually calls, making both of them freeze at the unexpected voice.

The younger is the first one to break from his daze. Eyes sparkle with relief when he sees his mother finally wakes up. He then immediately presses certain button to contact the doctor.

Hyunjin, on the other side of the room, releases a relieved sigh; yet he will be lying if he says the current situation of his mother and brother hugging doesn't hurt him a tad bit, so he gets up, ready to leave the room. But a voice calls him.

"Hyunjin-ah."

He turns his head, gulping when he meets her gaze. Oddly enough, for someone who harshly asked him to never see or visit her family ever again, her gaze is way too affectionate.

"If you're going to ask him to leave, I swear I'll hate you for the rest of my life, mom." Jeongin interrupts. He walks to where Hyunjin is, gripping on the taller's hand firmly; subtly asking him to never leave him.

"Even after what you did to him, he still chose to be here with me. So please mom-"

Unfortunately, the doctor and along with the nurse barge in, cutting Jeongin off. So they just patiently wait for the check up to finish, standing side by side with hands still intertwine.

"She's going to be fine. Don't worry." Hyunjin whispers. "And thank you for standing up for me." Earning a happy nod from the younger.

It doesn't take long for the check up to take place. The doctor explains the progress as well as what she needs to take and do so she can quickly recover to the three of them.

Then when they finally excuse themselves, the woman says, "Jeongin-ah, can you do me a favor?"
