BLOODSHED

My nose was red and my eyes were blood shot. I bit the inside of my cheek trying to distract myself from freezing cold, as I stood watching my breath float away.

My frozen limbs protested every trudge in the inches snow. I ducked into the nearest convenience store to shield myself from the snows withering bite.

I was greeted by a man waving a revolver. I froze.

He was murmuring something in a foreign language I couldn't understand something about a sacrifice. My first reaction was to confront the man with a kick in the head but I saw the wild possessed look in his eyes. He looked almost as if he had been expecting me.

He raised the gun to my head. I slapped the revolver away and took off running full speed out the door.

I got a few steps away when he reached the door. I heard a bang and felt pain in my side.

My blood disturbed the white snow as his laughter pierced the air. "I will not cry." My vision swam and I could feel my existence fading to nothing.

I wonder if father will miss me. He never cared before. I could have laughed if not of the pain. I thought of my father's reaction. "Anneliese how dare you die and forget about your studies. I have prepared this test for you. Now, while you're dead don't neglect your studies. This is your schedule . . ."

Despite my will, tears surfaced. I shut my eyes and spoke my last words. "I don't want to die. Save me, whoever. God. Somebody, help. I want to live."

When I woke up my head was pounding. I soon found that any attempt I made to sit up worsened the pressure. I laid back down until I could feel the pang in my head subside.

Slowly, I moved until my short, pasty legs hung over the side. The room was midnight black with white accents. I loved it. It was beautiful.

I stood up and tried to focus more intensely. My mind was racing, and I danced around the question, why am I here?

My mind was racing as I walked towards the door quiet and ninja like so no one could hear.

"You did what?" a cold voice demanded when I pressed my ear against the wooden surface of the door.

"She was going to die. I did what I had to do." another voice protested.

"No, you didn't. You just felt bad for her because you're half human." He sighed. "She was supposed to die. Humans die every day, Sebastian."

"She was going to die because of us. Because of us Ray, and you wanted me to leave her there? I was supposed to see her and just walk away like nothing had happened. That they her wanted to sacrifice her to be one of us. The man called out to us."

"No one said you couldn't drink from her. That's what you should have done instead of turn her." said the guy I assumed was Ray.

There was a muffled bang, "That's sick Ray. We aren't monsters."

"No, we aren't monsters, we are vampires. That's what we are, Sebastian. We are vampires. You can't make that decision on your own. You can't make her a vampire just like that."

I let out a strangled gasp and scrambled away from the door.

Feet rushed towards the door.

Crap. I grabbed the nearest weapon, which happened to be hot sauce, and held it upwards. Two males appeared, wearing opposite expressions. A look of worry and shock ran across liquid gold eyes; while the purple with a silver eyes didn't bother showing emotions. Instead liquid gold eyes burst out in a loud laugh falling and fell to the floor holding his stomach.

"A hot sauce bottle, really? That's what you were going to defend yourself with?" He said wiping the tears in his eyes as his face broke out in a smile.

My cheeks burned and I croaked a "shut up" as the other of the two striking men (the colder one) said, "Put the hot sauce down, you stupid cow." He clenched his fists together so hard his knuckles went white.

I raised the hot sauce higher and prepared to strike. Nervously, I gripped the bottle tighter as my gaze shifted between the two men. I could take out one of them before the other got to me, I thought.

"Are you really going to hurt the man that saved you?" Stoic guy said, "You humans are more selfish and stupid every day." He yet again brightened my day with his sunny words.

"What do you mean saved my life?" I said curiously.
