Rivers Pov
I sighed and watched as someone entered the room and started towards her, hugging her.
I growled deep in my throat as he hugged her.
She turned around quickly and I fell out of the tree. Awkwardly flailing my arms, I tried to grab hold of a branch.
I felt my hand grab one and I sighed. I let go quickly, a sharp pain in my hand.
There was a thorn or something pointy on the branch.
I yelled again as I tried grabbing another branch. So much for quiet.
I brought one of my hands in a strong hold on the branch and the other gripping my stuff. I maybe, kind of, sort-of used too much strength, and the branch broke.
I shouted as I fell to the ground.
Papers fell, littering the sky and ground. My juice tipped over and spilled all over the tree and my head.
Ray was there in a flash. Next to me with a murderous expression as he grabbed my arm and put it in an arm lock behind me.
He turned me and his once murderous expression turned to one of confusion and amusement. "River, what are you doing here?"
I laughed awkwardly, "Uh, you know, just bird watching . . . Yeah, that's what I was doing!"
My eyes widen as the realization of what I said kicked in and I let out a nervous laugh.
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Anneliese jump down from the window.
"No!" I screamed as I got up and ran to where Anneliese was and caught her before she could fall.
I let her down from my arms before grabbing her wrist and looked into her eyes.
"Are you okay?" I said worriedly.
"I-Uh-I'm fine . . . thanks?" she responded with question in her eyes.
"Why would you do that? Are you crazy? Do you want to get hurt?" I screamed. My eyes narrowed. "Are you hurt?" I asked as I started hoisting her over my shoulder in a fireman's carry. "Hold on, don't worry, I'll get you to the doctor-"
"Stop. Put me down. I'm fine." Anneliese said.
I took her off my shoulder and carefully put her on the ground.
"Who are you?" she asked suspiciously.
"He's River, he'll be helping you." Ray said coolly, a knowing grin on his lips.
"With what?" She said confused.
"With the resistance," he said confidently.
