I Couldn't Give A Baby A Gun . . .Could I?

Anneliese's POV

"You don’t know?” Ray said. He looked at me incredulously. "How can you not know? How am I supposed to use you for the resistance if you have no idea what you are doing?” He shouted, his eyes suddenly furious.

He paced.

"It’s like giving a baby a gun. I couldn't do that . . . could I?” His voice lowered. No longer shouting, thinking and speaking to himself. His eyebrows were furrowed. In his eyes you could see his emotions whirling in a crazy clash trying to find a dormant emotion to take rein and lead.

"What if it's a small gun like a revolver or a-"

"Ray, I have no idea what you’re talking about but giving a baby a gun is not a good idea. Not even as a reference.” I said shaking my head, a little miffed and confused. "What do you mean resistance?" I asked.

He paled and his eyes widen as a sudden realization of what he had said hit him. "I-I didn't say re-re-resistance I said . . . Oh God, he’s going to kill me-Oh, look, a squirrel!"

I fell for it and he uttered a small goodbye as the door shut quickly.

"Ray, wait!” I said, silently cursing myself for being naive.

Unhooking myself from the blood IV and closing the windows, I took off the medical gown (Remmi forced me into because it made it look like I was a normal patient in this human hospital.) I slid into my jeans, throwing a red t-shirt over my head and grabbing my jacket.

In the mirror, I gasped. I hadn't looked in the mirror since I had turned . . . I never found one.

My once silver hair was now tinted red at the bottom. It looked like the blood splattered on the snow when I had laid dying. My complexion was pale like snow. I looked the same as I had when I was alive except I had different clothes on and my once black eyes were now red pools of blood.

Tears sprung to my eyes in realization.

I am dead.

I had no chance at anything human because I was no longer human. I am a vampire.

I’d been putting off thinking about it.

Brushing the tears away I walked out of the hospital willing myself not to cry. I pulled my jacket closer to my body.

"Anneliese," a voice screamed. Turning, I noticed Sebastian waving his arms wildly, his fangs showing slightly as he smiled, jogging towards me.

Sebastian POV

I jogged over to Anneliese. She still looks pretty, I thought, slowing down. Her eyes were puffy and red. Was she crying?

It doesn't matter, I thought again.

You know it does, my head voice countered.

“Shut up!” I said.

Anneliese wrinkled her face. “What?" she said looking slightly offended. “I didn't even say anything, you’re the one that called me here. Jeez, if you didn’t want to talk to me why’d you call me over?” she said walking away.

I stood there confused until I realized I had actually said shut up to her, out loud.

"Wait, Anneliese, I wasn't talking to you, I'm sorry. I was thinking, I didn't mean to say it to you.” I kept rambling on until I realized we were standing outside the hospital.

"Did they release you early? You not supposed to be out yet. "

She looked away sheepishly. "I may have accidentally left the hospital without permission-Hey, what do you think you are doing? Sebastian, put me down right now. I’m not going back!” she screamed as I carried her fireman style towards the hospital.

"What did you say? I’m sorry, I can’t hear you, Anneliese.”I said sarcastically as I skipped towards the hospital.

"Come on, Sebastian, I will walk on my own. Fine, I get it, okay? I’m going." she said sincerely.

I put her down allowing her to walk into the hospital on her own two feet.

"Ha!” she screamed, running in the opposite direction.

I grabbed her arm. “You forgot, I’m faster than you.” I said cheekily.

She bent down to whisper in my ear. “You forgot who's smarter," she said, stomping on my foot and running away.

Fifty two escape attempts later.....

She laid back on the hospital bed, pouting bitterly. "I let you get me. I was tired and needed a nap."

"Sure." I said trying to hold back a snicker.
