‘What’s the time?’ I ask Harry

‘Shit, it’s 6:30’ he replies rather morbidly

My eyes go wide ‘Fuck! I still have to get dressed’ I panic

Harry looks at me ‘it’ll be fine, I’ll watch the food and you get changed’

I’m about to walk to my room but I stop ‘no, you have to go home and get changed first’

‘Okay, sure’ he smiles ‘I’ll be back soon, ‘don’t burn down the house’ he teases

I shake my head while he shuts the door.

After I turn the stove down low so I don’t burn the food, I run to my room and find a dress to wear, I’ve been wearing so many dresses lately, I’ve been running out of ones to wear.

I rummage through my closet; I pull out a simple a half sleeve white lace dress that stops mid-thigh.

I quickly change out of my clothes and change into the dress.

I run my hands through my hair and decide not to bother with makeup; my parents never liked me wearing it, and If I do I’ll get a lecture on how it clogs up my pores and I don’t have to wear it to fit into society’s expectations of beauty. I’ve gotten that one a few times now.

I run back to the kitchen and check the food, I stir the risotto but I can’t help my mind wondering back to Mia and how mad she was.

I Grab my phone off the counter and type a quick message to her

Lylah: I know you’re mad at me and I understand but can we please talk, I miss you. Xx

I sigh and plop it down on the counter and check the time; 6:45

I’m surprised mum isn’t here already, she’s early for everything.

All of a sudden the buzzer goes off, I spoke too soon, unless it’s Harry.

I walk over to buzzer ‘hello?’

‘Hi honey, it’s your mum, can you let me in?’

I push the button and let her in. Just as I do I realise I haven’t told her or dad about Harry.

Shit, I probably should have done that, they’re quite protective.

Knock, Knock.

The butterflies in my stomach have officially turned into elephants.

I take a big breath open the door to see my mum standing there with a bottle of wine and massive grin on her face ‘how’s my baby girl?’ she squeals.

I smile as she pulls me into a hug ‘I’m good thanks, how are you mum?’ I say almost struggling to breathe, her hugs are really tight.

‘I’m good sweetie’ she smiles, she touches my hair ‘look at you, you look so happy and healthy!’

I smile at her and step out of the way so she can come in.

She takes a seat at the dining table and I take one across from her.

‘I haven’t seen you in while, what’s been happening?’ she asks

I play with my hands ‘uhh well not much, but there’s someone I want you to meet’
