Jack had fallen asleep on Spot's shoulder. When he had woken up, he was in his bed. Spot was in his dog form lying on the ground asleep. Jack got out of bed and went to shower. When he got out of the shower, he saw Spot leave his room. He went up to the door. Jack figured that he wanted to go out to use the bathroom.

So, Jack opened the door. He was right. Spot came back inside, and Jack closed the door. Jack went back to his room and changed into some clothes for today. Spot waited in the kitchen for Jan. After a few minutes Jan came into the kitchen to see Jack and Spot. Jan didn't look very happy. Well, she never looked happy, so it was normal.

"Where were you and Juliana yesterday? Jack didn't know how to answer that because he didn't want to rat Juliana out. "I went into the forest again. Juliana waited outside the forest for me to come back", Jack said. Jan sighed. Jack looked at her curious as to why she sighed. Jan never sighed. "I saw you crying yesterday. You were sitting with someone. Who was it?" Jack started to panic. How had she seen him? There was no way.

Jack's hand started trembling, he was starting to get scared. What would Jan do if he told her the truth? He wouldn't though, right? "Someone I met,'' Jack said a little quiet. "Do they live in any of these houses?" Jan was asking more questions. How was Jack supposed to come up with more answers? Maybe he should tell her the truth but not all of the truth. It's not like she knows the whole truth. "No, they live in the forest. In a cottage." Jack was speaking with his head down. He didn't want to look at Jan. "What's their name?" Jack didn't know this.

Jack didn't know what Spot's real name was and so he came up with one. "Their name is Nathan." "Why were they here", Jan asked. Jack tried to stay under control so that his half-truth responses were somewhat believable. "They were walking me home. It would have been dangerous for me to walk in the forest alone. You know that. You said it yourself." "Why did they have to walk you all the way home?" Jan's questions were getting harder to answer.

Jack had to be more detailed or else she will ask way too many questions and Jack will say something he will regret. "I wanted them to. Then I sat outside and I for some reason started crying and they comforted me. That's it." Jack got up and started to leave the house being followed by Spot as always and then Jan said something. "Jack, I think you have a little secret that you wanna tell me." Jack stopped and turned around. Jan was smiling? Why was Jan smiling? Jan never smiled at Jack.

That was very abnormal. "I don't know what you are talking about", Jack said. Jan started walking over to Jack. Jack backed up and Spot did as well. "So, is it Spot's secret then?" Jack stood in front of Spot trying to protect him. "Dogs can't keep secrets", Jack said. "I know, but people can. So, what is Spot", Jan said. Jack started to get scared." He's just a dog", Jack said. Jan grabbed Jack's wrist and held a tight grip on it. "You're lying. Watch", Jan said and let go of Jack's wrist.

She got a pot off the stove and started making her way over to them. Jack opened the door and let spot run. Jan then splashed the boiling hot water onto Jack. Jack yelled in pain. The water that came in contact with his skin felt like fire. It hurt so bad. Spot started running back to the house. Jan kept pouring water onto Jack. He kept trying to run away but Jan wouldn't let go of his wrist.

Then Jack kicked Jan in her leg and Jan fell onto the floor. Jack then ran out the door and towards the forest. Spot ran with him by his side. Jan got up and started following them. Spot made it into the forest but Jack didn't. Jack had tripped over a log and twisted his ankle. "Spot!", Jack yelled. Spot transformed into his human form and ran back to Jack to help him.

When he got back Jan was trying to pick him up and take him back to the house. Jack didn't want to go. Then Spot realized why. Jan had a knife in her pocket. Spot ran over to them. Jan put Jack down and pulled out her knife. Jack started to crawl away from Jan. Jan didn't care and didn't budge. Then she saw Spot. Spot stopped running but Jan started. She ran at him with the knife and before she could stab him Spot moved quickly out of the way and Jan fell into a muddy puddle.
