WHEN YOU WERE YOUNG...
you felt it.
you felt her.
she became a part of you.
dark brunette hair was all you could see.
and her face... she almost looked like-
the sound of distant screeching sound was heard. it wasn't so distant thought, you were just so deep in your thoughts that the outside world becomes silent after a while.
your eyes bolted open as the car you were sitting in stopped, pulling up at a tall building. even though you have matured more and more since that day, the moment you stepped onto the hot concrete of Los Angeles for the first time, your heart pounded.
at least, not in a bad way.
you see, in this world, that stars always have a place for you even when no one else does. at a certain age, a bond is created with someone unknown to you. this is what we call 'soulmates'.
soulmates can be tough to find, although your heart will know where to go.
most people keep their bonds. you, on the other hand, you lost yours.
your bond was different from a normal one. the two of you practically hated each other. well, the fact that there were too many differences between you along with the fact that you were both women didn't help at all.
and one day, that feeling of bond left you.
until you came here-
the united states of america, Los Angeles, the home of the Hollywood entertainment industry.
you felt that thump in your heart, it seared with anxiety and stress. no doubt that the other woman felt the exact same as you did.
you buried all you feeling for so long. from that day on, you vowed to have no relationships or love interests. she was always in your head, and no matter what.
you could never get her out.
pushing your thoughts away, you felt the heart from the sun beating down on you like going down a metal slide in the middle of summer as you stepped out of the car.
you could feel someone watching you, it was that feeling again.
"y/n y/l/n." a short woman, hair sparkling in different shades of blue and purple as she walked down on the staircase, phone in her hand with some keys hanging from her finger. you raised an eyebrow, taking your bag out of the car and pulling it on your back.
"that would be me." you folded your arms soon after. it was a matter of business, no friends here to make to say the very least. a contract, a couple of signs, little talks, drinking, and awkward stares that were all this day holding.
"I'm yvonne, scarra and the others are already inside waiting for us." Yvonne introduced herself, the keys on her fingers giving of a quite sharp sound as they hit each other.
"then let's not keep the waiting, shall we?" you suggest, your hand coming in front of you to swing towards the house. the girl nodded turning around and going back up on the stairs she once came from.
. . .
"-and that's why we need your help. we do hope you'll understand us, and of course, you'll be paid substantially for your efforts." Yvonne elaborated as you ascended to the apartment.
it was beautiful, your jaw couldn't help but drop. your time spent as a legal advisor you have been not one or two giant and expensive buildings, surrounded with marble and gold but this smaller company still knew its way around choosing a house.
then it struck you. that thump in your heart, paging out of sorrow and regret. it couldn't be here, no way it could.
you crossed the stairs, entering a long corridor.
from there, yvonne led you towards the end of it where a giant double door sat where your heart practically sank with anxiety.
the door opened up and at last, you saw her.
"we thought you died on the way here yvonne!" a soft voice interrupted my thinking. it was the so-called 'others', but it was only that same dark brunette that you remembered for a long time. she was wearing a crop top paired with purple sweat pants and some kind of expensive sports shoes.
"y/n y/l/n, yes? I assume you have been informed about our proposed partner...-" she froze.
"ship." the journey was finally over. as your eyes locked for the very first time, you knew who your soulmate was all along.
and she did too.
