part two of valkyrae | ten

DEATH FASCINATES HER A lot that dying is just another term for the final stage of existence. that it never really looks scary the way the movies and books portray it. she believed that death was never like the tragic stories that some may have cried themselves to sleep reading.

maybe death is a home for those who are tired and hopeless and done with everything. maybe death is the waiting area for those who want to travel and explore the other dimension of life. maybe death is the peace that one has been longing for after seeing all the terrible things in this world.

she is a weird person because she likes the concept of death, unlike others who feared even just the mere mention of the word.

rachell never feared death, after all, what's there to be scared of dying when your soul knows death very well?

bet when she heard the news of your own death, she could only imagine you sound asleep without any hope of waking up- something in her breaks.

she's so used to seeing death; she could even go far as to say she may have been death herself because just like the grim reaper, she accompanied many souls to the afterlife even though it wasn't always for the better. yet why is it that when her eyes closed she could only see your unmoving form, she couldn't find herself to breathe? to talk?

rae believes her soul was already well-acquainted with the idea of passing. she had learned how to stay deaf to the sound of her heart being torn apart, to the sounds of her heart weeping and begging for hope, for her to open her eyes and realize this was all just a hellish nightmare.

   but this wasn't a dream.

as she sat on the metal stool next to a bed, helping tina treating her wounds, she falters when a whirlpool of realizations hit her and she resisted the urge to stumble back. up until now, she can't accept your departure from this world- from her. she can't accept the fact that she won't be able to see the bright sparks hidden beneath your eyelids, the sparks she had come to adore so much, the sparks that had now lost its light.

she can't accept the fact that you won't be there to greet her anymore with your unusual bright smile, offering her half of your yogurt that she would always decline, cleaning the weapons with her.

she can't accept the fact that you're gone, because all her life, you had always been there with her.

"...after that, she died in my arms." tina finished the tale that she has been repeating for the past two days to rachell whenever she was the one attending to make sure tina was treated well.

"you did everything as you were trained to. i couldn't have done it any different or better..." tina looked up from the little patterns on the blanket that was covering her to look at rae. it's been days that she had heard rachell say anything to her other than the word 'repeat'.

"at least she died in the arms of someone she adored." even though tina only joined the cartel just a few years ago she was like a sister to you.

so you're right, the best executioner of the comfy cartel does have a constant obsession over many odd things. maybe that's the reason why she has an obsession with many odd things- and death is one of them.
