Y/n's POV

"Guys I'm here!" I shouted as I opened the door to the Bucket's house.

"Hi, Y/n!" Charlie shouted cheerfully as he hopped down the stairs. "How was college today?"

"Careful there Charlie!" I warned Charlie, but he landed perfectly fine on the floor, the floorboard making a 'creek' as he landed. "College? The same per usual." I shrugged.

I'm Charlie's cousin, and since my parents died when I was very young, I lived with Charlie for most of my life. I wished to not be a burden to them, so I studied hard and was able to get a full scholarship to college, and I also had a part-time job and I used the money I earned to rent an apartment that was close to their house and the college I attend.

"Charlie how was school today? Do you need any help with homework?" I asked as I sat down at the dining table.

"Nope! I finished all of them! But can you look it over for me, please?" He asked with such a sweet smile, I had no choice but to agree. Not like I wanted to say no.

As I looked over Charlie's work, the door opened and Charlie's parents rushed in. "Char- oh hello there Y/n!" I nodded my head at them. "Charlie! Your mom and I thought... maybe you want to open your birthday present tonight."

Charlie let out a wide smile as his parents walked over to him. I saw Mrs. Bucket holding a bar like thing wrapped with paper behind his back. She handed it to Charlie, who was sitting on the bed, and everyone surrounded Charlie and watched with anticipation as Charlie slowing opens the wrapper. I turned around so I can't get a better view as well. It revealed a Wonka Bar. Charlie's moving hands stopped.

"Maybe I should wait till morning." He said.

"Like hell." Grandpa George said. I couldn't help but let out a laugh.

"Pap." Mr. Bucket whispered.

"Altogether we're 381 years old, we don't wait." Grandpa Joe said. I hid my face to stifle my laughter, but I was sure that I was visibly shaking. Let's hope my gramps don't see.

Charlie looked at Grandpa Joe and back at the Wonka Bar, slowing removing the outer wrapper, revealing the shiny, silvery wrapper beneath. "All that wrapper... how wasteful..." I thought, "well... it does mean that it's clean... never mind."

"Now Charlie, you mustn't feel too disappointed... you know... if you don't get the..." Mrs. Bucket trailed off in a gentle, soft voice.

"Whatever happens, you'll still have the candy." Mr. Bucket said, finishing Mrs. Bucket's sentence.

Charlie unwrapped the chocolate, only to see no ticket inside. Charlie looked disappointed. "Darn it," I thought, "how come the spoiled kids get the tickets but Charlie doesn't?" Everyone else were visibly disappointed as well.

"Oh well." Grandpa Joe said in defeat. "That's that."

Charlie looked around the room, before saying, "We'll share it." "This is why I care for him so much, he's so sweet." I smiled, although I was still disappointed that he didn't get the ticket.

"Oh no Charlie," Grandpa Joe stopped him,"not your birthday present." "True true." I said in my head.

"It's my candy bar and I'll do what I want with it." Charlie replied. "Damn Charlie, YES! Stand your ground!" I cheered for him mentally.

Charlie starting breaking off pieces of chocolate and handing them to his grandparents and parents.

"Thank you Darling." Mrs. Bucket thanked Charlie.

"Thank you Charlie." Mr. Bucket said.

All of the grandparents gave a smile as their thank-yous. Charlie looked straight ahead at me and reached out with a piece of chocolate. "...me?" I asked. "Of course! I would never forget you, Y/n!" I smiled and stood up to take the chocolate. I didn't want Charlie to reach too far and fall off the bed. "Thank you."

Charlie took a bite of the chocolate just like the rest of us. Suddenly, something flashed through my mind.

"I FORGOT!" I stood up, startling all of them.

"What is it that you forgot, sweetie?" Mrs. Bucket asked.

"I had a gift for Charlie as well! I forgot!" I shouted and reached in my pocket. "I hope it didn't melt.. I really hope so..." I whispered to myself as I took the Wonka Bar I bought earlier today out of my pocket.

"Second time's a charm." I said as I hand the bar to Charlie. "Happy birthday. Sorry I didn't wrap it. Bought on the way here."

"Thank you Y/n!" He beamed clinging onto the bar.

"Just don't make us anticipate that much this time." I jokingly warned him, and he let out a giggle.

He unwrapped the outer wrapper faster this time, but removed the silver wrapper just as slow. As he pulled the wrapper off, a gold sheen was there instead of the usual brown of the chocolate. Everyone in the room gasped as Charlie took out the golden ticket. Grandpa Joe hopped off the bed and started dancing. "Damn Grandpa Joe you still got moves." I thought, "but wow, the chocolate didn't melt at all. Interesting."

Charlie hopped off the bed and hugged me tightly, I caught his arms to make sure he didn't fall. "Woah there!" I chuckled. "Thank you Y/n! Really..." He beamed. I set him back down on the floor and he handed the ticket to me. "Could you read it please? It was all thanks to you that I can have the golden ticket!" I nodded and looked at the back of the ticket.

"Greetings to you, the lucky finder of this Golden Ticket, from Mr Willy Wonka! I shake you warmly by the hand!"

"Sir, you are not even around, how do you shake hands??" I thought, but I continued to read it.

"For now, I do invite you to come to my factory and be my guest for one whole day - I, Willy Wonka, will conduct you around the factory myself, showing you everything that there is to see, and afterwards, when it is time to leave, you will be escorted home by a procession of large trucks, each one filled with all the chocolate you could ever eat. And remember, one of you lucky five children will receive and extra prize beyond your wildest imagination. Now, here are your instructions: on the first of February, you must come to the factory gates at ten am sharp. You're allowed to bring one member of your family to look after you. Till then, Willy Wonka."

"Are you sure this is all on this one small piece of paper? I feel like I read an essay!" I said, catching my breath.

"First of February... that's tomorrow!" Mrs. Bucket exclaimed.

I felt a small hand tugging at my coat. I looked down to see Charlie. "Will you go with me, Y/n?" He asked with his eyes glowing.

I looked up at his parents. "Uncle, aunt, should I? I'm not sure if I can take care of Charlie..." I asked worriedly. I have watched the house for my uncle and aunt before, but I don't know if I can do the same outside!

"Oh Y/n," My aunt placed her hand on my shoulder and smiled, "I'm sure you'll do a marvelous job. You're very responsible and smart, I'm sure you'll know what to do when something happens."

I looked up at my uncle. He smiled at me and nodded his head. "I trust you, Y/n. I know you'll be fine and do a marvelous job at taking care of Charlie."

Charlie tugged on my coat again. I looked back down at Charlie before saying, "okay... I'll go with you."
