Y/n's POV

I just finished my last class and I speed-walked across the campus to the building where Professor Murray's lab is located. "Why do I want to get there so quickly? I know I've always been eager to learn... but this is different..." I thought, stopping and looking up at the building.

As I walked through the corridor, I saw Evan, who was leaning against a wall. I called out to him.

"Evan?"

He looked up, and he smiled when he saw me. "Y/n!"

"Pfft..." I chuckled, walking up to him, "does seeing me making you this happy?"

"Well, it is the first time I get to connect with someone so quickly in this college." He explained, walking at the same pace as me towards the lab. "Your presence makes me feel strangely at ease."

I looked up at him, "that's strange," I smiled, "I feel the same way. Interesting, isn't it?"

We reached the professor's lab and opened the door. There were already a few students in there. Evan and I sat down next to each other at the same table, waiting for Professor Murray to start.

After more students entered the lab, there were about ten students in the class. Professor Murray stood in front of everyone and started speaking.

"Good afternoon, everyone. As most of you know, we will be starting a new research project in the next few days." He started. "This will be a difficult one as it requires you to go and interview many huge business leaders while conducting more research as well. However, I know most of you will do well on this. Of course, I have brought in a graduate student to help us on this project. Evan Massoulleve." Some students gasped and whispered.

Evan stood up and walked in front of the class. "Good afternoon. I'm Evan Massoulleve. I will be a part of this project from now on. I wish that we will all be able to work together as a team and finish this project successfully. I am looking forward to working with all of you." He said while always having a smile on his face.

Professor Murray patted him on the shoulder and laughed cheerfully. "That was very good, Mr. Massoulleve. Have you been able to connect with anyone so far?"

Evan looked in my direction and smiled. "Yes. I find them to be incredibly intelligent and easy to work with."

"That's great." Professor Murray said to him, facing the class again. "One more thing. This project might go on for months."

"Months? But I'm about to graduate—"

"The students that are about to graduate might think, 'but I'll be graduating soon!' There is a reason for this. I am incredibly blown away by these students' talents in the field of business, and I wish for all of these students to consider going on to graduate school."

I widened my eyes in surprise. "So that's why... Evan mentioned that he wanted me to go on to graduate school as well..."

After Professor Murray told us some other information about the project, he dismissed the students and told those that have questions to stay after. I walked up to Professor Murray and Evan, who were chatting with one another.

"Professor Murray," I called out.

"Yes! Ms. L/n, do you have any questions?" He replied with a smile.

I averted my gaze to look at Evan, who tilted his head to the side with a smile. I looked back at the professor. "Professor Murray, you must know that I do not come from a wealthy family, and I—"

"Yes, are you worried about the tuition for graduate school?" I nodded my head. "That will not be a problem. I have already written you a recommendation letter and found other programs that you can get scholarships from. The only thing left is your decision to go or not."
