Y/n's POV

We walked down the corridor towards our next room. The kids walked in the front while the adults walked in the back.

"Without the boat, we'll have to move double-time to keep on schedule. And there's too much to see." Wonka explained.

"Mr. Wonka?" Charlie asked.

"Yeah?"

"Why did you decide to let people in?"

"So they could see the factory, of course."

"But why now? And why only five?"

I was hoping that I could get the answer to that question as well, but someone else joined the conversation.

"What's the special prize, and who gets it?" Mike asked with annoyance.

"The best kind of prize is a surprise," Wonka answered, laughing.

Veruca shoved Mike aside and walked next to Wonka. "Will Violet always be a blueberry?" She asked.

"No. Maybe. I don't know. That's what you get from chewing gum all day. It's just disgusting." Wonka said.

"Well if Violet lived in Singapore, she wouldn't have started chewing gum." I thought.

"If you hate gum so much, why do you make it?" Mike asked.

"Because there's a demand in the market," I answered in my head.

"Once again, you shouldn't mumble. It's starting to bum me out." Wonka replied although Mike spoke loud and clear.

"Can you remember the first candy you ever ate?" Charlie asked curiously.

Willy Wonka stopped in his track. "...no." But that was probably a lie since he just went blank and stood still.

"Ms. L/n?" I heard Mr. Salt ask.

"Oh yes, Mr. Salt?" I replied politely. Mr. Salt is quite famous after all.

"What would you respond to the question Mike just asked?" He asked me.

"Oh! Well I would say that it's because there's a demand in the market," I responded, "besides, as a result of Mr. Wonka's chocolate bar, Mr. Wonka's now famous in the candy business. Why wouldn't he take the chance to monopolize the candy industry?" I explained. Mr. Salt gave me a satisfied smile.

"I knew it was you, Y/n L/n." I tilted my head in confusion. "I have read your research papers before. I must say, you're quite impressive. At such a young age too!"

I didn't expect him to compliment me. "Why thank you, Mr. Salt. It's not every day that you get to be complimented by such a famous businessman." I replied with a smile, was the smile genuine? Maybe, maybe not.

"What are you two talking about, Mr. Salt? Miss L/n?" Wonka asked, turning towards us. He already snapped out of it I guess.

"Nothing really," I replied, "Mr. Wonka, were you having a flashback?"

"Why yes, sorry about that." He responded.

"These flashbacks happen often?" Mr. Teavee asked.

"Increasingly... today." He chuckled, but it sounded... dark. He continued to walk, and we followed him.

"By the way," Wonka started, "Miss L/n, why don't you walk up here with me?" He said with a smile.
