Y/n's POV
The way Willy looked at me on the day he visited me continued to linger in my mind. He looked sad, disappointed, frustrated, desperate... It was a mix of emotions that I did not understand.
College was better though, no one asks me about Willy Wonka anymore, which puts me at ease for some reason. Though no one bothers me about him anymore, the look he had on his face has frustrated me for the past two days.
After we finished our research and writing for the day, I packed my bags and decided to leave, earlier than anyone else. Professor Murray looked surprised when I told him that I was leaving early, but he didn't stop me. He looked happy almost.
"Are you finally giving yourself a break?" He asked cheerfully.
"I suppose seeing my family can be considered a break," I shrugged with a smile, "but if you want me to stay I can—"
"No. Take a break." He said sternly, which shut me up. "That is an order from your professor." He ordered, but it did not sound stern at all.
I lowered my head and smiled. "He's being considerate again." I thought, and I looked up at him. "Thank you. I'll be going then."
When I was about to leave our campus, I heard someone calling out to me. "Y/n? Leaving so soon?" It was Evan. I turned around to see him exiting the library, with a stack of books in his hand.
I smiled, "yeah. You told me to take a break, didn't you?" He smiled softly, but it soon faded away as he rushed towards the professor's lab. I turned around in confusion. "Why are you in a rush?"
"I want to walk you home! Obviously!" He shouted.
"Don't!" I shouted back. It must've caught him off guard because he froze and dropped some of the books.
"...huh?" He turned to look at me, confusion all over his face.
"There's no need to do that today." I smiled nervously, holding onto the strap of my bag.
His expression went from confusion to disappointment. He lowered his head and bent down, picking up the books he dropped. He then stood back up and smiled sadly. "Alright then... have a safe trip home."
I nodded my head reluctantly. I've never seen him so sad before, and it bothered me. I looked quietly as he headed back to the building where the lab was located until I couldn't see him anymore. It felt as if my feet were glued to the ground. I slowly lifted my two feet and walked out of the campus with a complicated feeling on my heart.
As I slowly walked towards the chocolate factory, my mind was all over the place, but mainly on how Evan reacted when I rejected his offer to walk me home. "Why did he look so dejected...?"
I stood in front of the gates, looking through them at the factory. "I can't believe my family actually lives in the factory..." I thought as I heard a creaking sound beside me. I turned towards the source of the sound to see the worker's gate was opened. "How did it..."
I slowly and reluctantly walked through the opening, and after a few steps, I heard the gates shut behind me. I then felt someone pulling my pants, and I looked down to see an Oompa-Loompa. He led me around the factory, which was different from how I imagined it. "I thought I would just walk through the front gates... well I suppose people would notice that." I shrugged as I continued to follow the Oompa-Loompa.
We reached a side door, and after we walked through it, it led back into the front entrance hall. "I didn't know there was a secret entrance." I pondered, looking around the entrance hall. "It's still empty like before."
