Y/n's POV
Things have been getting better for the Buckets and I. With the new job at the toothpaste factory, the Buckets get to eat better meals. And with the professor paying me as a research assistant, I get to send more money to the Buckets and saving some up myself. I don't even have to work my part-time job anymore. But due to research, I don't have as much time to see the Buckets. I did get to spend a lot more time with Evan though, we're basically inseparable at school. Evan would occasionally come over to my apartment and we would work together. I've also talked to my aunt and uncle about going on to graduate school, and they both agreed that I should do it, so I already registered for it.
This morning, I went to school with Paula, who wanted to go earlier to see her boyfriend.
"Please, you basically go to his house every day." I groaned, walking alongside Paula.
"Well, I want to be a good student today!" Paula pouted, making me laugh. "By the way, did you hear about how Willy Wonka's candies aren't selling well?"
I nodded my head, I just read that in the newspaper today. "The said that they don't taste as good as it used to be. But the ingredients are the same, are they not?"
"Yeah, that's the weird part." Paula pointed out. "People say that don't feel happy when they eat it."
"Did something happen with Willy Wonka...? Wait, that's not my problem." I rolled my eyes and looked away.
"Hey ladies!" A voice called out. I turned to the source of the sound with a grin.
"Evan!" I shouted, basically running in his direction. We ran straight into each other and Evan wrapped his arms around me, giving me a big tight hug.
"How are you today, Y/n?" He asked cheerfully.
"Great now that I see you." I laughed. His grin got wider and he lifted me into the air. I let out a shriek.
"You two need to start dating," Paula said sarcastically, walking up to us, "you guys act like a couple."
Evan and I looked at each other, and Evan set me back down on the ground. "Paula, we don't plan on dating each other," I told her.
Evan nodded his head in agreement. "We're fine just the way we are. After all..." He trailed off, looking at me. I smiled back at him, pressing my finger against my lips, keeping his secret between the two of us.
"Ohhhhh... now you guys got a secret that you can't tell me!" Paula stomped her feet and crossed her arms, pouting like a child. Evan and I burst into laughter.
After I calmed down a bit, I wiped my tears away and said, "you'll know about it eventually. Come on, let's not let your boyfriend wait any longer." I chuckled, dragging Paula and Evan with me.

On the other hand, in the factory...Willy Wonka's POV
I laid on my lounge chair in the entrance hall, with an Oompa-Loompa sitting in the other chair, listening to everything I wanted to say.
"I can't put my finger on it," I said, looking up at the ceiling. "Candy's the only thing I was ever certain of... and now I'm just not certain at all." I thought about the look Y/n and Charlie had on their faces. The way her eyes narrowed in hatred when she looked at me.
"I despise you." She resented me, she disliked me, she hated me. It really did hurt. It hurts so much. My chest hurts the more I think about it. "Why is family so important to them? I don't understand."
