Third person POV:

You couldn't sleep.
Maybe it was the silence, that kind of silence that hums louder than any storm. The kind that reminds you the world didn't end, even when you thought it did.

Your back was turned toward Jotaro. The moonlight slipped through the curtain, soft enough to make you forget how bruised your heart still was. The sound of the sea outside, small waves, gentle, repetitive, almost sounded like breathing.

You pressed your hand against the sheets. They were warm. He hadn't moved much since lying down. Typical. Even when the world fell apart, he'd stay still, unbothered, as if control was the only way to exist.

You closed your eyes and listened, your chest felt heavy, but not with pain anymore. It was full of everything unsaid, everything forgiven.

"Still awake?" His voice was low, almost unsure.

You didn't turn, but you smiled a little. "I could say the same."

He shifted, the sheets whispering softly as he did. For a moment, none of you spoke. The silence between you wasn't uncomfortable, it was something else now. Something calm, earned.

"I thought you'd finally sleep after everything," he murmured with a husky voice.

"I thought so too, but... it's strange. I feel like if I sleep, I might wake up and it'll all disappear again."

He didn't answer, you felt the bed move slightly, the space between you two disappearing. A slow warmth touched your back, careful, hesitant. His hand.

You didn't need to see his face to know his expression or the way his eyes softened, the way his jaw unclenched only when he forgot he was supposed to look strong.

"You're here," he said, almost to himself.

"I am.." you whispered back. "You are too."

The sky was still faint blue, a few hours from sunrise. You thought of all the nights you spent waiting, imagining, hoping, and how this night didn't need any of that. It was enough.

Your breathing fell in rhythm with his. For the first time, you didn't think about leaving, or losing, or what tomorrow could break. There was no 'What if', Just this fragile, quiet peace that felt heavier than any promise.

When you finally turned around, your eyes met in the dim light, like you were meant to look at him in this exact second, after all the years of chaos.

He brushed a strand of hair from your face: "You're cold," he muttered, though he sounded more like he was saying you're real.

"Then stay" you said.

It wasn't a plea. It was a fact.

And he did, quietly. His arm found its way around you, pulling you close enough to hear his heartbeat. You thought it sounded steady, like the sea he loved so much.

"Y/n..." he breathed, like saying your name made the air heavier.

Your pulse trembled, but you didn't move away.

"I'm here" you replied, your voice small yet certain.

He exhaled, the tension leaving his shoulders. His touch found your cheek, thumb tracing your skin as if memorizing it. The room felt smaller now, the kind of silence that isn't empty, but full of everything unspoken.

When he leaned closer, you could hear his heart more than your own. It wasn't rushed, it wasn't hungry, it was calm and steady.

Your lips met softly and you shivered.

Not from the cold this time, and he noticed. His hand brushed down your back, careful, gentle, protective. Every move he made seemed to ask, "Is this okay?" And you just nodded without a single word.

He didn't kiss you like it was the first time. He kissed you like he'd been waiting lifetimes for this exact moment.

One kiss, that's all it took to unravel you. The moment his tongue traced your teeth, your knees lost strength, and every thought vanished.

You pulled him closer by the collar, you couldn't get enough of it, you kissed him like you might not get another chance.

Time blurred around you. The moon climbed higher, painting the room in silver.
You felt safe, completely, entirely safe, like the whole world could disappear and you'd still be fine as long as he stayed beside you.

When Your breaths finally slowed, he pressed his forehead to yours.

"I love you," he said, voice barely audible.

Your lips curved into a faint smile. "I know," you whispered back, "but I love you more."

He chuckled, that rare, small laugh you'd only heard once before. His arms wrapped around you, drawing you closer until your head rested against his chest.

"Sleep," he murmured, "I'll be right here."

And for the first time in a long time, you believed it.

Maybe the future wasn't certain, but this night was.
And that was enough.

In the morning, when the light finally broke through, you didn't wake up from a dream. You woke up into it.

The walls were still the same, the world was still uncertain, but his voice, his presence, the warmth next to you, they all said the same thing: You've arrived. You don't need to run anymore.

For the first time in your life, you believed it.
