Chapter 10:

Novah's POV:

"Are you sure you want to do this?" Thor stood in front of me looking at me as we had been doing this for a few rounds.

I looked at the god and smiled. "Yes, Thor please." I said looking at his blue eyes, "give me all you got."

Thor nodded swinging his axe as the wind started howling around us. It was late at night, must be closer to midnight if not just past that. He let out a sigh, "as you wish." With that, his eyes began to glow blue as we ran at each other head-on. Swinging my arm he caught it and shook his head, "stay focused, whatever is on your mind erase it." he shoved me back looking at me. The rain had started to come down as the wind stayed strong howling around us. "What is on your mind that is so important, tiny one," Thor yelled over the echo.

Feeling my eyes well up I shook my head looking at him, he could see the pain written all over my face but deep down he knew not to stop. "I was betrayed, I let my guard down and it hurt me."

Circling me Thor smiled, "good, keep it going. How did they hurt you?"

Breathing as the rain came crashing down onto us I looked at the ground, remember everything that happened. "I let it down because I thought he knew, I thought he understood me."

Hearing the laugh from the god I looked at him as he continued circling, "oh it's a he, sounds like trouble in paradise."

"It's not like that!" I yelled going to swing at him only for Thor to duck under it. "He broke my trust, I thought I liked him! He proved to me he couldn't be trusted!" screaming I kept swinging at the god he kept stepping back steps each time.

The smile on his face grew more, "very good Novah! Keep going!" he yelled as the rain swirled around us.

Letting out a yell of frustration I swung my arm hitting Thor's arm before it could knock me away. "All my life, I was a shadow and the one time I think I am not, that just one person understands I get that taken away as well!" Falling to my knees I let out a heavy breath. "And I can't even protect the ones I love."

Feeling Thor's presence above me he knelt on one knee placing his hand on my shoulder. "Novah, you may be a human but you aren't nothing. If anything you are a new friend." I looked at the god as he stood up. "A warrior doesn't fall until given a reason. My dear, you do not have a reason. Get up."

Placing my hands on the wet ground I could see the dirt beneath us squish between my hands a bit. Standing I looked up at Thor who just nodded before he quickly dashed towards me. Dashing out of the way and under his arms he looked back at me giving me a nod. "Right, never think you are safe until you know you for sure aren't going to be killed."

"Very good." He swung his axe into the ground causing the ground to shake beneath of feet.

Ducking under his swing again I turned as quickly as I could kicking Thor in the back causing him to fall a bit. "Never turn you back on your enemy, no matter the cost," I said to him, throwing a line of what Natasha had taught me.

Laughing he shook his head. "Don't go soft on me now, kitty." Just like that something in me triggered where I was swinging at him, ducking under his arms and even one point leaping up as he tried kicking my feet out from beneath me.

"He would call me that, he was my tin-man. I thought he was different!" I screamed getting quicker with my blocks and hits. "The day I saw him, his stupid blue eyes something about them, he triggered something in me!" I hit Thor harder than I knew but I knew he also didn't mind how he was fighting back. "I was held in a prison for a year because he and his stupid blue eyes had me in a trance. I should be dead, he should have killed me! Why me, why did he leave me alive." I ducked underneath Thor's strike, "and the worst of it all I would do it all over again!" Letting out a scream I felt tears stream down my face as rain and thunder crashed around me. Hitting as much as I could and taking punches and kicks from Thor, I listened to what he said and remained on my feet, we were not falling today.

Kicking my foot against Thor's chest he landed against the tree with a huge smile as I stood there with my fists ready to swing if he charged at me. Licking his lips he wiped some water off his face. "Well done, again?"

"You know it."

Bucky's POV:

The storm outside was insane tonight, the weather didn't say anything for a storm. Lights would flicker as thunder crashed and lightning struck. Trying to read my book I flipped the page only for perfect timing as the power went out.

"Well, guess I'm not finishing this tonight." Putting the book down I got up.

Going into the hallway I could see Novah's door open, had the storm woke her up? It was really late and usually, I hear her shuffling a bit.

Poking my head into her room I could see her bed made up, but without her in it.

Where was she?

Looking around the compound I could feel my heart begin to race. "Novah?" I called out, I knew I was the last person she wanted to see but I needed to know she was okay.

Lightning struck and I could see two shadows in the yard. Eyes widening I swung the door open to only see Novah, she was fighting Thor?

Watching closely I could see the rain had her soaked. She wore a white shirt with a black tank top underneath as well as her leggings. She and Thor were soaked to the bone as if they were out here all night doing this.

Her fighting was remarkable though, as soon as Thor would have a hit on her she would throw one right back at him. I stood there watching in awe as she fought. It didn't look like she needed anyone there, she was standing her ground and of course, the smile on Thor's face meant he wasn't in any danger or was he concerned.

As happy as I was to see her on her feet part of me felt sad like she didn't need anyone anymore. Pulling my gaze away from her I let out a sigh making my way down the hall to the linen closet. Pulling out a towel I made my way to her room placing it down on the bed for her for when she got inside.

She said she didn't want to see me, which was fine I could still at least do this for her to show that I still cared.

Going back to my room I slumped down on my bed looking at the ceiling as the storm kept on outside. The feelings I felt for Novah were unspeakable, I never had a chance in life to understand feelings and as the winter-soldier, it felt like all feelings I had ever known were just washed away.

Closing my eyes I turned to my side, in hopes of trying to get some sleep.

Maybe there was a way I could talk to her.

We still did need to go on that walk, I had to speak to her without her wanting to scream at me on sight.
