Tommy POV

"PRINCE TOMMY YOU COME BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!" the cook shouted, watching as a tuft of blonde hair disappeared out the window.

The blonde in question giggled, climbing up the small bit of ivy that lined the walls. The gardeners were supposed to have the ivy under control, but the prince insisted that there was no need. He quite enjoyed the ivy and no one wanted to get in the way of the prince having fun. For as mischievous as he was, he was well loved by everyone in the castle.

Eight years old and he already was so full of life. With his bright blue eyes and sandy blonde hair he was an exact reflection of the king, having no hint of his mother. It made him sad to have so little memory of the queen, but he loved hearing all the stories about how much he was like her.

Tommy carefully followed around the outer edge of the wall, always making sure he had enough footing to do it. This wasn't his first time doing something so risky, he tended to do it all the time. He took too much pride in being sneaky.

Finally he reached a balcony, one that was a few rooms away from his chambers. Quickly he jumped over the railing, landing safely on the other side. He chuckled, stuffing the cookie he had stolen into his mouth. If only they could catch him.

"Prince Tommy."

He looked up to see a young girl laughing at him. He grinned, "Hey Niki!"

"Stealing cookies again?"

"I don't know what you're talking about." Tommy quickly hid the treat behind his back.

Niki shook her head, trying to stop the smile from forming on her face. "Your father won't be happy."

"He doesn't need to know... please Niki?" Tommy put on the best puppy eyes could manage would seemed to do the trick.

Niki sighed, "Alright, but this is the last time."

"Thank you Niki! You're the best!" Tommy hugged her, smiling brightly.

She smiled back, pushing her long blonde hair out of her eyes. "Make sure you don't give Ranboo trouble, okay?"

He groaned, "Fine. I won't hide from your brother, but only for you Niki."

"Thank you. Now run along, before the cook catches you."

Tommy smiled, before racing towards his room. He opened the door, quickly slipping inside. He nearly ran into a figure.

"Oh, hello father!" he said, wiping the crumbs from his mouth.

"Tommy." the king shook his head, attempting to discipline his son.

"That is my name." Tommy grinned.

"Oh Spark, what am I going to do with you?"

"Love me?" the blonde suggested, looking up at his father.

King Ryder laughed, "Of course I will." He wrapped an arm around Tommy. "More than anything in the world."

Tommy hugged back, a clear smile visible on his face. "Did you have something to tell me Father?" He loved talking to his dad, but usually there was a point to it.

"Do you remember Ivory?"

"The woman who was very rude? Yeah, I remember her." Tommy replied, hoping this wasn't where he thought it was going.

"I'm proposing to her." The king spoke gently, a bit hesitant to see Tommy's reaction.

"But isn't that replacing Mom?" he questioned, looking up into his father's eyes. He didn't want a new mother, he didn't want things to change.

"Of course not. I would never replace your mother, you know that." the king felt his heart break at the thought. "Me marrying her will unite our kingdoms, that way we will have an alliance. It will promote peace, to keep us safe. More importantly, to keep you safe."

Tommy nodded in understanding. He didn't know a lot, but he knew enough that his father was doing it with the best interest at heart. "Does that mean I have to be nice?" he mumbled.

"Tommy, I need you to promise me something." the king knelt down to Tommy's level. He stared into Tommy's blue eyes that were still filled with innocence. "Promise me that you'll be kind to everyone, no matter what. That doesn't mean you can't play tricks, I want you to still be yourself. But you need to always be the bigger person, you need to kind and strong."

"No matter what?" he echoed.

"No matter what." his father nodded. "Do you promise Spark?"

"I promise." Tommy said, not realizing the vow he had just created.

A vow he would keep forever, until the end of time.
