Tommy POV

"Why is Phil making us do this again?" Tommy whined, smacking yet another mosquito off his arm. He bit his lip, trying to force himself to ignore the itchiness that spread through the bite.

Wilbur chuckled, "He needs nightblooms, which can obviously only be found at night."

"Then why did we leave so early?" Tommy asked, glancing towards the setting sun. They still had at least an hour left before the moon rose.

"It's not that early." the brunette retorted. "Besides, Techno prefers to go out earlier rather than later."

At his name, the pinkette glanced at his brother, nodding. Tommy found himself shifting from foot to foot. He still had yet to be yelled at, and that terrified him. Maybe Techno was planning to just get rid of him on this mission.

Tommy made a mental note to stick close to Wilbur for the adventure, that way hopefully Techno couldn't get rid of him.

Techno looked away from him, seemingly saddened by the sudden uncomfortable shift. "Let's keep going." He walked further ahead, scoping out their surroundings.

Wilbur glanced down at Tommy, confused. "You still haven't talked to Techno?"

Tommy shook his head. "I-I don't want him to yell at me."

The older sighed, "He won't. The most he would do is lecture you... and he would have done it by now." He placed his hand on the blonde's shoulder. "We're not like the queen, we forgive."

Tommy nodded, though he still didn't believe it even though he wanted to. He moved past Wilbur, taking in the breeze. It was nice, it was actually peaceful for once.

Finally they came to a clearing in the woods. Flowers filled the ground, creating a beautiful painting in the grass. Tommy smiled, thinking back to when life had been good. When his father had been alive.

"Hold still!"

"Is it done yet?" Young Tommy whined, squirming impatiently.

The king chuckled, readjusting the flower crown. "There, now it won't fall out."

Tommy grinned, feeling the flowers with his fingers. He stood up proudly. "Wear mine!" The king knelt down before his son, allowing him to place the crown. Tommy's was a bit messier, but filled with just as much love as the king's. "There!"

His father smiled, "It's lovely Toms."

Tommy laid down beside him, tugging at the grass playfully. "Why can't our actual crowns be made of flowers? They're so pretty!"

Ryder chuckled at the thought. "Well they die... that's a lot of flowers to go through."

Tommy thought for a moment, his eyebrows furrowed. "Why do they have to die?"

"That's just life, spark."

"You alright Tommy?" Wilbur questioned, bringing Tommy back to reality.

"Wha- oh yeah... just thinking."

"About what?" Techno asked, keeping his distance more than he would like to.

"My father and I used to lay in the gardens and make flower crowns for each other." Tommy began, smiling as he gently picked a flower. "It reminded us of the queen."

"That sounds nice." Wilbur commented, exchanging a glance with Techno. He didn't want to overstep any boundaries. "Do you have a favorite flower?"

"I always liked white lilies." Tommy thought for a moment. "Mother liked irises... at first... but eventually she liked red carnations. Father loved lilacs, mostly because they reminded him of his youth."

Wilbur smirked, laying down in the flowers. An idea popped into his head, making him sit up. "Will you teach me?"

"Teach you what?"

"How to make flower crowns." he replied, his eyes shining with excitement.

"But we don't have a lot of time-"

"It's not even sunset yet!" Wilbur retorted, beginning to pick flowers. "We've got plenty of time."

"Alright..." Tommy sighed in defeat. Gently, he began to pick flowers as well. "Techno... you gonna help?"

Techno's eyes widened. "I don't really like flowers..."

"Oh shut up and help." Wilbur snickered.

Once they had picked enough, Tommy sat down, beginning to intertwine the stems. A smile appeared on his face as he worked.

Wilbur leaned over his shoulder, trying to copy what he was doing. After a moment, he got confused, deciding to start over again. But this one wasn't any better. "How do you do that?" the brunette whined.

Tommy laughed, setting down his crown to help Wilbur. "Like this." he said, slowly intertwining the stems. Wilbur watched closely, taking the crown from Tommy and trying again.

"Oh!" the older exclaimed when it finally began working.

Tommy began laughing, tears falling down his face. The brothers grinned at the younger, loving the pure joy that came from the sound.

Finally when the blonde calmed down he smiled at his brothers, chuckling at Techno's attempt of a flower crown. To say it was a crown was giving it too much credit.

"Techno, what did you do?"

"I thought I was doing it right!" he groaned, throwing the flowers to the ground.

"How about I just make you one?" he offered, picking up the flowers that now littered the ground.

"What? How come he doesn't have to make his?!" Wilbur huffed.

Tommy rolled his eyes, "Because you're a lot better at it than he is."

"What-"

Suddenly a twig snapped, making all three of them snap up. Techno and Wilbur took out their swords, Techno clearly being more confident.

Hooded figures appeared, more than last time. Immediately the brothers threw Tommy behind them, wanting to keep him safe above all costs.

"We just want the prince." one of them said, taking out a dagger. "Give him over and we'll pay you handsomely."

Tommy gripped onto the back of Wilbur's sweater, suddenly afraid they would agree to it.

"You are not taking our little brother." Techno snarled.

"Brother? That brat?" another snickered.

"Just hand him over, no need to be difficult." the first one said.

"We said no." Wilbur snapped, glaring at him.

"Oh this we'll be fun."
